Schefter thinks we will have changed on the offensive coaching staff so I ask who are the notable OC and QB coaching candidates? Hackett is interesting in my opinion. Who else?

I have seen Frank Reich's name thrown around a lot. He's still under contract until 2026 so it would be just like Spanos to hire him and pay him cheap and have the Colts eat the rest.

Changing coordinator is worse than just bringing in Payton since Lombardi is from his coaching tree

Herbert would be running the same offense except with a great not awful coach in charge of it.

What I don't think anyone has said yet is that retaining Staley almost guarantees retaining Telesco. There isn't a GM candidate around who would want to inherit someone else's choice for HC, not IMO anyway. So year, it's even worse than just retaining Larry; we get Mo, too, with Curly being the scapegoat. (Telesco = Mo, Staley = Larry, Lombardi = Curly).

If you fire Telesco wouldn't the incoming GM give Staley a year before axing him for his own guy? I would think that would be the case also I am pretty sure our next GM is already in house.

Next GM won’t be John Spanos. That would be a demotion. The GM reports to John.

John will always have someone else in the GM role so they can be the scapegoat for failure.

I didn't say he would ever be the "official" GM, likely the reason Telesco hasn't been fired already is John is already pulling the strings
