Taking a LBs coach job on a team that devalues linebackers and doesn’t have any good ones? How is that a good career move?
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

My guess would be "devalues LBs" is an outside opinion. Like several D players are unimportant? Ridiculous.
The Chargers are flirting with elite pass D. Taking the "chunk" plays allowed out of run D, getting more takeaways is the goal.
Being an active coaching participant in a top 5 or better D coaching staff won't hurt his resume.
Pretty sure Staley believes in himself & his system and sold Howard on joining him to create an NFL top D.

Toward the end of the season we had glimpses of this until wheels flew off the bus in the second half of the Jaguars game.

Maybe he didn't want to be in depressing Cleveland anymore, but I don't know. He is a former ILB, so maybe he'll be suited quite well for the role, and potentially as a promotion later on to help Staley as a DC.

Some Browns fans seem quite happy that he's gone, so hmm.
Stefanski fired his DC, Joe Woods. Browns fans are happy he is gone and will be happy if all the assistants get fired, too. You all saw the Browns defense let us come back and win that game against them.
