    See Ya Renaldo Hill...

Good Riddance, I was never impressed by him. Seems more to me like he was quietly pushed out but framed this way to protect him and save face. No way he voluntarily takes this demotion. :

Chargers’ DC Renaldo Hill is leaving LA to reunite with Miami defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and become the Dolphins defensive pass-game coordinator, per source. Hill was Fangio’s top target and out of respect to his former boss, Chargers’ HC Brandon Staley allowed his defensive coordinator to leave LA for Miami.

Promoting Derrick Ansley to DC should save a few bucks.

Assistant defensive backs coach Tommy Donatell is expected to become the secondary coach and pass game coordinator in another move.

      2fer!!

Good Riddance. Should had never been hired, Too little experience. Only thing better would have been Staley to fire him. Shows Staley's shortcomings as a HC.

            If he can find it!

Staley needs to stop calling the defensive plays and focus on being the HC. Hope we hire a DC with successful experience.

ERIC WASHINGTON – SENIOR DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT/DEFENSIVE LINE, BUFFALO BILLS

Eric Washington joined the Bills in 2020 as the team's defensive line coach and was promoted to senior defensive assistant/defensive line coach before the start of the 2022 season. In Washington's first season with the Bills, they went to the AFC Championship game, and in his second season, he helped lead a defense that ranked first in the NFL in the fewest points allowed per game (17.0) for the first time in franchise history.

Washington has experience as a Defensive Coordinator in Carolina(2018-19) under Head Coach Ron Rivera. Washington was promoted to Defensive Coordinator of the Panthers after Sean McDermott left to take the Head Coaching position in Buffalo. In 2018, Washington led the Panthers' defense from 28th to 12th in interceptions, 32nd to 13th in passes defended, and 18th to 9th in tackles for loss. Washington reunited with McDermott in Buffalo after Rivera was fired from the Panthers.

Washington is not the current Defensive Coordinator in Buffalo, so he would be eligible to interview from his current position. He has spent the last three years with Leslie Frazier, where their base defense is a 4-3 zone but spends much of the time disguising their defenses with different hybrid formations. The Bills' defense ranked first in DVOA in 2021 and currently holds the top spot in 2022.

The 53-year-old Washington is thought highly of in most NFL circles, and many feel he will be a highly sought-after Defensive Coordinator candidate this off-season. It should be noted that Browns Head Coach Kevin Stefanski spent 7 years on the same staff as Frazier, three of which were as Head Coach, so it wouldn't be a giant leap to think that Stefanski would value a Frazier recommendation or that they could find some common ground.

He’d rather take a demotion to coach with the real guy than stay as DC with Staley.

This would be my hope. I doubt he does this - but he should give up play calling to focus on being the head coach

the defense really has not been good his first two years. Maybe that is partly personnel but maybe he needs to adjust his schemes and play calling

Yes, and maybe feels Staley will be gone soon with Kellen on board.
