I think you stated what everybody already knows about Quentin Johnston as a player. I was referring to a poll stating Johnston is one of the five most hated players in the NFL. Hating a player like Johnston just because he's a first-round pick and hasn't lived up to expectations, even though he's trying his best, is ridiculous.

If I'm not mistaken, there are 32 teams in the NFL...

      Ladd McConkey:
82 receptions (tied for 19th most in the NFL)
1149 yards (10th in the NFL)
7 TD's (tied for 21st in the NFL)
Average of the 3 ranks (17th in the NFL)

      Quentin Johnston:
      55 receptions (tied for 62nd)
      711 yards (48th)
      8 TD's (tied 13th)
      Average (41st)

I suspect we're under-valuing both of these guys.
      Protect the QB
      Run the ball
      Play great defense

With QJ it is not so much the numbers...they progressed and look ok...its can the QB fully count on him and depend on him in crucial moments in big games...and we are not there yet....he still drops too many important throws and doesnt win at the catch point...plus separation against man coverage.

Thats why i most of us want a really reliable 1B for Herbert for big games and prefer QJ at WR3.

If you hate Quentin Johnston--a 23-year-old who's trying his best to succeed in a professional sports league that allows around only 1,700 men in the entire world to maintain a roster spot each year--just because he struggles and doesn't play up to expectations, then you really need to reevaluate yourself.
I've always pulled for him and will continue to - not just because he's a Charger but to know anything about him is to realize he is a really good person, he tries to do things the right way and be the right person, his character is solid gold imo. Not everything works out as we want in life unfortunately.

I have literally felt bad for him through his rough start. I may decide I don't want him playing WR for my Chargers someday, but I'll never hate him.

^^^THIS right here^^^ Well said and how I feel. Dont have any hate for the guy as a human being, but as a player he is NOT good. Maybe another year with coach Sanjay and he'll become a serviceable 2.

I get all of that. The concentration drops bug me. He doesn't fight for the ball along the sideline and on deep passes.
                But I just don't think Harbaugh/Roman need a typical WR1 to run their offense. I covet a RB1 over a WR1.
The numbers are the numbers... right now, Ladd is producing at a WR1 and QJ is producing at a WR2.
I don't buy this QJ is a WR4 talk. There are few (if any) WR4 producing at QJ's numbers.

I have a really nice WR cluster in the 4th round.
                Pat Bryant
                Kaden Prather
                Nick Nash

I would be super disappointed to see them go after "WR!" in the 1st round. The offense needs RB1 or TE1 more than WR1 IMO.

Agree with you on that. I want a good TE prioritzed over WR and one of these good RBs also

What f..king poll came up with this conclusion?

                    What's to hate?

Is he a dirty player, excessively physical fighting after footballs and laying down devastating crack blocks?

Is he always trash talking with cbs, burning them repeatedly and then going into his victory pose to show them up?

Do his teammates hate him for his attitude?

                    Show me the poll!!!

I'd throw a tight end in the there, alongside a wide receiver ...... Chargers need a second option in the passing game.

I'd even throw a dynamic RB coming out of the back field. Is that Omarion Hampton? ..... no, it is not ..... he's not much at that, nor in pass pro.

They had a healthy enough JK Dobbins against Houston .... pounding the rock more with Omarion, or even Jeanty, wouldn't have made a whole lot of difference.
Having a 2nd receiver/tight end to pressure Houston's back 7, and keep a safety out of the box all game would have helped.

Still on your crusade claiming that Greg Roman's offense only needs functional receivers Boltnut?

I definitely prefer Arroyo over Mason Taylor as a receiver.

Mason Taylor would have to be a real meat grinder on the Oline for me to opt for him between the two.

Arroyo more upside as a dynamic receiver that can make explosive plays.

They both weigh 250. Arroyo longer arms and wingspan.

Jermiah already talking Arroyo could slip into first round. If he blows up and runs well at Combine that could well be the case.
