What The Chargers Should Improve The Most This Year: Rush O or Rush D ?

I was a little bit surprised when I looked stats of the 7 last games of last season.
When the Chargers were dominated in rush yards, they went 0-3.
    LV 154-72
    DEN 205-59
    JAX 117-67
    When they allowed +150 yards, they're 1-2.
On the other hand, when they could run for at least 74 yards, they went 4-0.

Rush Defense. We need to be able to stop gain at the line of scrimmage. More qb pressure

I would say yes. Make them one dimensional. Last season we had a pretty decent pass defense, more of the same this season.

          Uhh, both?

Chargers really need to be better in running the ball and stopping the run.

              Both.
Last, or near last at either is not acceptable. Average or better please.
Rush O is basically built in if Moore is who we expect.
Rush D, likewise but there seems to be some question about Staley's ability to lead a D.
My guess is we'll be acceptably better. We just need to get off the floor.

If forced to choose between the two I'd prefer the rush D to be better. This offense can absorb a poor run offense better that the D can deal with a bad run defense.

                  I'll take rush offense.

If we can run the ball in the redzone, our offense will average 30+ points per game.
I'd love to see an opponent try to keep up with us by running the ball...
                  Protect the QB
                  Run the ball
                  Play great defense

I'll take O. R/P balance equals scoring dominance with this O
We won 10 games when both were lousy.
Hopefully both will be avg or better and this remains a theoretical discussion.

The O needs to run better to help give the play-action game some juice and to slow down the pass rush. That will sustain drives and get them better field position. It also helps shorten the game when we have a lead and makes it easier for the D.

D needs to stop giving up big plays in the running game. We can contain and minimize the big plays given up (mostly) in the passing game, but for a pass defense that was as good as we were the last couple of years, we just let teams keep moving the ball on us and it keeps them in the game.
