If he's the next Witten I guess that would be great. That's a lofty thing to ask of a rookie, to be as good as Witten.
The guy needs a lot of work all over his game, but he is a good athlete and he is fairly good at things even though they ask him to play inline TE, flex TE, run block, pass block, run routes..... He is a classic inline TE in that he can do a bit of everything.
He is not going to be as good as Jason Witten, but he could be good enough to play some. ANd he is the type of TE that would be a wonderful complement to Gates. It is a hell of a lot easier to find a pass catching TE (flex TE or pass catching Hback) then it is to find more of these classic TE. Guys like Henry are getting to be hard to find. Not many colleges use Te like a TE. THey just line a big kid up and play them like an extra WR. I don't think he has any chance that he will be a 100 catch per year guy. But he is the kind of kid who can eventually play a ton of downs and catch 50-70 passes a year and get a lot of key 1st downs. Plus, because he can do the inline blocking, it allows us to go out, get a pass catching TE and if the guy has the potential to be a good receiver, we can let him be the next Gates and focus on pass catching and not worry about blocking.

Adams has the athletic skills, but HH is a much better player at this point. We can do more with him, plus from his body language, I get the impression HH wants to block and do everything, he just needs to develop his technique and get some confidence.

With rivers as a qb he could pull in 80.

We also do play enough 2 TE sets that he will get a lot of snaps this year, and heaven forbid could be the number one TE if Gates gets hurt. It was time to move on from Green and I am excited to see him play - he will be a big upgrade over what we lined up next to Gates last year.
He is on record saying he wants a diminished role next year:
3 downs and red zone.
