All i can say about Detroit, I salute you. I know it will be looked at as a collapse...but SF beasted it at the end. and I dont compare this to our collapse, or the Atlanta collapse vs Pats...still think they are gonna recover...hell, I wonder if Johnson doesnt come back...run it back...that is a great offense...and he could be the next Bills, Cowboys HC if he waits till next year...

Campbell still learning, still a great leader...would love it if they run it back...little defensive bolstering thru the draft, and they could be a NFC juggarnaut...

Honestly, that one fumble was the game.

Post analysis of the two playoff games with perfect 20-20.

          1. Lamar is not Mahomes, so don't try to be him.

          2. A FG in the hand is worth TWO in the bush.

            The fumble was devastating.

Detroit ran 21 times for 148 yards in the first half and had a 24-7 lead. Why Ben Johnson called only eight running plays in the second half is beyond my knowledge. If they had run it more in the second half nobody would be talking about Campbell going for it on fourth down instead of attempting field goals.

He's been on five teams since 2018, and he's kicked in only four games this season. People are acting like Campbell had Justin Tucker or Harrison Butker. Green Bay's kicker missed a 41-yard field goal against the 49ers last week. Badgley could have very well done the same yesterday on both kicks, which were longer.

It's not like Campbell went for it on fourth down inside his own 30 when the Lions were leading with under two minutes left. That would have been a Brandon Staley move.
any FG can be missed, but these 2 kicks were around 45 and 48 yards (in decent weather), and the super bowl was on the line. we've seen how difficult even 4th and 1 can be. and this was against the 49ers defense.

i am a huge fan of going for it on 4th down from the 50-yard line down to your opponent's 35-yard line. once you get near the 30-yard line, the FG bells should be ringing.

for literally forever and a day, coaches took the points in the playoffs, but in the last 3 years or so, some people have decided that all of those HOF coaches were wrong.

i love Campbell and was rooting for the Lions, but he should have kicked.

Detroit and Baltimore both inexplicably went away from the run. Baltimore may have been more egregious. Reminded me of the 2006 Chargers game against the Pats when LT ate them up in the first half and only had about 5 second half carries

The one thing I'm looking forward to is the Hall of Fame announcement for Antonio Gates.

I would agree with you if Michael Badgley wasn't the kicker. I have no more confidence in him than I would with Nate Kaeding. The week before Green Bay's kicker missed from 41 yards against San Francisco, and Tyler Bass missed from 44 yards against Kansas City. Each miss ended up being the difference in the game.

I don't know what the rankings are for kickers currently, but Badgley is probably not in the top 25 right now.

I try my best to not think about that.
