Don't know if you watched the game the other night or if you watch the 49ers at all. But Purdy made some throws into some very tight windows. Shanahan's system surely has
much to do with it. But it's Purdy who's execution has been nearly perfect this year. He was getting into some bad habits last year. Seems like those have been corrected.
It's still early and he hasn't played in enough high level games to crown him. But thus far he's shut up the naysayers.

I watched the game live. And I watched this entire highlight video. I saw only one what I would consider a tight-window throw by Brock Purdy, late in the 2nd Q, a short pass to Deebo over the middle near the goal line. Every other completion in this vid, Purdy's receiver has separation, in most cases they are wide open. I'm not detracting from Purdy's accuracy. He puts the ball on his receivers with great accuracy. But his receivers are open. He's not throwing jump balls.

There were 2-3 more throws not in that video. But yeah most of the time the receivers had separation. The throw to Jenkins on 3rd down, he had guys open on the shorter routes
for the 1st down, but he went with the deeper throw. Great vision and decision.

Lynch was hired in Jan. 2017. In his very first draft of being the GM for just under 4 months he drafted Kittle that year. Probably the 2nd best TE in the league.
They had 10 picks that year. 7 are still playing in the NFL, some at high levels although not with the 49ers.

In 2018 in his very first full year as GM he drafted Fred Warner, Mike McGlinchey, T, Moore. If you don't who those guys are look them up. They had nine
draft picks that year, 7 of which are still playing in the NFL, some not with the 49ers.

It gets better from there.

McGlinchey sucks and is the reason their QBs were always hurt.

Waiting for Russell Wilson to go down any week now. Broncos paid a king ransom for McGlinchey.

Niners also shit the bed on Lance but Lynch has done well overall.
I thought they over paid for McCaffrey too but he has been healthy for the most part with them.

RE John Lynch, I think Shanahan really runs that show. Kyle tells Lynch what he wants and Lynch finds a way to make it happen. I think there is a similar dynamic between Staley and Telesco.

They've really hit on the vets they bring in: Trent Williams, Christian McCaffrey, Charvarious Ward, Javon Hargrave ....... boom, boom, boom!
There are probably others.

Compare that with the Chargers.

It's interesting how big a priority DTs are to Shanahan and Lynch.
Shanahan/Lynch reportedly shared a remarkable similarity in the positions they value the most, when they interviewed for their respective jobs with the 49ers.

They work well together.

Staley's only succeeded with superior DTs - if we can believe the story about the guy at Mercyhurst.
This has been pointed out before.

X, did you see that on Sunday night, Brian Griese was the 49ers QB coach sitting next to Purdy and Brian Schottenheimer on the bench for the Cowboys as QB Coach?

And my original argument was that 49ers current status is due to Shanahan’s coaching because I don’t believe Lynch is a good GM. If we had hired him, we would have been rightfully ridiculed because he had no scouting or anything remotely resembling a GM background. He was a former player who was a football broadcaster before Shanahan handpicked him as his GM essentially.

It’s great that he got Kittle in his first draft in the 5th. But that doesn’t excuse him essentially blowing his other picks including the two first rounders. And it’s great that his failed picks are still playing elsewhere but you can say the same thing about Telesco’s picks and we all know that means absolutely nothing. The Trey Lance situation was obviously his worst move but Shanahan does magic with his scheme and bailed him out again. I’ll give him a mulligan for getting the guys that Shanahan wants like Trent Williams and McCaffrey. But the current success of the 9ers is solely because of Shanahan and his scheme IMO.

It's a compelling case for Shanahan being the main reason for the 49ers' success. Aside from taking Garoppolo and Purdy to the NFC Championship Game, he got 220 yards out of Raheem Mostert in the 2019 NFC Championship Game. Barely anyone ever heard of Mostert before then. There are many other examples of him taking guys out of nowhere to making outstanding contributions. Then you have his system run through Mike McDaniel in Miami. Tua was a bust before McDaniel came around. Now he's an MVP candidate, and we could very well see San Francisco and Miami in the Super Bowl.

Clearly the big factor for SF is player development.

They have seen excellent assistants, including Minorities, go on to HC jobs.

The 49ers delegate in all facets of the operation.

Lynch stays out of the way, much more than having any special chops himself.
