Perhaps Marty feels like his biggest personnel blunder in football was Welker. I'm aware he said that. But unless there is something we don't know, I don't believe he had some deep personal relationship with Welker that would engender tears. Of course we know Marty will cry over a missing roll of toilet paper, but I think it's highly unlikely that he got choked up talking about missing on a random player Marty coached briefly and went on to have success vs something more personal like not returning a call from Derrick Thomas before he died or something with LT or whatever.
