"The Los Angeles Chargers today claimed cornerback Essang Bassey off waivers. In a corresponding move, the team waived defensive lineman Christopher Hinton.

Bassey returns to Los Angeles, where he ended the 2021 season by appearing in one game for the Bolts and registering a solo tackle. He originally came into the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Wake Forest, signing with Denver in 2020. Bassey has appeared in 32 career games with the Broncos and Chargers, making four starts and totaling 42 tackles (33 solo), an interception, four tackles for loss, four passes defensed and a fumble recovery. In 52 games with the Demon Deacons, Bassey totaled 228 career tackles (162 solo), five interceptions, a sack, 50 passes defensed and three fumble recoveries."

I think the idea is to stick with the roster the way it is...and if we need guys go cheap...so we can at least roll over the cap we have into next season.

Bassey is a four core ST guy, so he can fill in for Leonard if he is going to see the field more on defense. Or see the field at all on defense I should say. Callahan must not want to play for the money teams are willing to pay because I am not aware of him getting any other sniffs. Ravens I think tried him out but did not sign him?

Whoever said add Verrett I would love to see that. He is a really good player when he is not injured. He is just injured pretty much alla time
