They had zero weapons on offense with Dez Bryant being fat and out of shape. They just discovered that the real magic was that there defense 2 years ago, with all the turnovers they forced, and that doesn't happen every year.

If they add Tom Brady as their backup, it isn't going to make them a great team. Their coaches know that. I bet even Jerry knows that. But he also is smart enough to keep his fan base happy, and that is what a trade is about. They aren't a playoff caliber team because they are pretty weak defense, and even their offense is only OK. They got lucky a couple of years ago, and their fans think it is something they can repeat. Maybe they can, but it's unlikely.
they looked better when they had Murray at RB and less suspended guys on defense. Not sure Homo had that much influence on results with the continuing back and shoulder problems over the last couple seasons.

Why don't we just sign Foles and cut Clemons? Yeah learning curve for him but Clemens sucks.

Because the Chiefs signed him 11 days ago.

Given Rivers' health and skill, what value would you have him add? Winning preseason games? Rushing for 1000 yards?

Clemons sounds too much like Cleo Lemon.

last night showed if our defense plays well and the offense doesn't kill itself with mistakes, penalties and turnovers- we can win with Clemmons. Listening to Fouts and the other guy (Spiro?) on TV last night, 1 of them made a comment that Clemons was in the top 4 of backup QBs in the NFL or something like that. They didn't talk about it anymore but I thought it was interesting how different their opinion of him is compared to many on this board.

Not knowing off the top of my head the quality of backup QBs across the board, it might speak to the quality around the league.

Most of us don't know what we're talking about when evaluating a backup quarterback. We'll let Fouts, the other guy, and Steve argue that one out.
