Gates should have been in on the first ballot.

A lot of players have been kept out longer too. I don't know who had it the worst, but Terrell Owens should have been in on the first ballot. He was kept out for two years, until he made it on his third year of eligibility. It's like they wanted he and Randy Moss to make it together. There were many people biased against Terrell Owens.

Real detailed report by Clark Judge on the HOF voting. Antonio Gates was the only No-Brainer pick this year. The longest discussion was on Eli Manning, who was in the first 5 eliminated.

That was interesting. Thank you for posting.

I think it's obvious that Gates should have been voted in last year. It seems like all of the voters knew that on Thursday.

Guards are definitely disrespected in the voting. Jahri Evans and Marshal Yanda made it to the top 10 but were cut after that. Evans played 12 years and was All-Pro five times (four of those were first team) and made six Pro Bowls. Yanda played 13 years and was All-Pro seven times (two of them were first team) and made eight Pro Bowls. Both were members of the 2010s All-Decade Team. Eric Allen was voted in and he was All-Pro three times (one was first team) and made six Pro Bowls. Another guard, Steve Wisniewski, was among the 25 semi-finalists but didn't make it to the final 15. Wisniewski played 13 years, all for the Raiders, and was All-Pro eight times (two were first team) and made eight Pro Bowls. He was also a member of the 1990s All-Decade Team, which Eric Allen was not.

I think it's as unfair that Luke Kuechly didn't make it in as a first ballot as it was when Patrick Willis didn't. Both were all-time great linebackers who retired early. Kuechly was the Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2012 and the Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. He played eight years and was All-Pro seven times (six of them were first team) and made seven Pro Bowls. He should DEFINITELY get in next year.

It's wrong that Eli Manning is being discussed the most for not getting in when he isn't nearly as deserving as every other finalist and plenty of others who didn't make the final 15 this year. People need to get over it. Two playoff runs in which he was fortunate to be playing on a team with a defense that held many all-time great quarterbacks and offenses in check should not get him into the Hall of Fame when he was a mediocre quarterback overall.

T.O. in my opinion was the 2nd best receiver ever behind Rice and was better than Moss, only Megatron would of been better had he played longer

Antonio Gates interview with Julian Edelman.

Gates has interesting stuff to say about Doug Flutie. I never knew that Drew Brees started at the end of the 2003 season because they didn't want to pay Flutie, who won two of his five starts that year.

He also thinks Lorenzo Neal should be a Hall of Famer. I don't think that will ever happen, but you can make an argument for him.

              Interesting conversation.
