I also think for certain teams - they will want an offensive minded coach

    Saints - who knows
Bears - with Caleb - they probably call Ben Johnson

Giants - probably drafting a QB, so an OC type

Jaguards - teh franchise is Lawrence based on what they paid him - offensive guy

Cowboys - no way Flores or Minter get that job if Hoodie wants it

Jets - who knows - but not sure Minter is flashy enough for Broadway

I just don't think the Chargers need to worry about Minter getting a job this offseason
I think it also depends on how well McDonald does in Seattle. He and Minter are basically the same guy. If McDonald does great things the owners will want McDonald 2.0. The great news for us is how well Harbaugh assesses, selects, mentors, grows assistant coaches. I bet Clinkscale (who was co-def coordinator at Mich at one point) or another bright coach will be ready to be plugged in. It's what Harbaugh, and his brother, do.

Remember Minter makes a, well mint. Spanosessesss paid a kings ransom for him. And his star is only going up, like Ben Johnson. So he can be very picky about where he ends up. Jets are a mess and after Salah, they probably don't want another defensive coach. Same with Bears and Saints. Jerry likes big names so he is not going after Minter. That just leaves Jaguars and Giants. And maybe Browns, depending on what they do with Stefanksi, two time coach of the year. Amazing

Unless Mickey Loomis is fired by the Saints - that is easily the worst job out there. The Cowboys job - well you have QB, WR and Edge Rusher - so thats a start. The Jets - if they dump A-A-Ron and trade Adams, 2025 will be rough but 2026 will be building; the Giants -- not much there. Browns - good call

      Vrabel is out there
      Hoodie is out there
      Ben Johnson

And you make a good point about McDonald being a guy as a comp to Minter. I don't think the Chargers lose Minter but like you said, Harbaugh will have a guy ready to plug in. Good coaches usually do

I'll join you on the Jesse Minter bus after I see the Bengals game. Save a seat please because I do like what I've seen so far.
I don't think the amount of depth added along can take a Defense from #26 to Top 5. He's a football coaching Jesse.

              Minter profile.

              Denzel Perryman:

"He thrives off us making plays," Perryman told FOX Sports. "When we make plays, you'll see him jumping around on the sidelines as if he was on the field with us. Just seeing that excitement, that confidence he has in us and the belief he has in us makes it very fun to go out there and play for him.

"He brings the juice, just with his playcalling. When we make plays, you can see the calls come to life and just the energy."

Son of a coach, Rick Minter, former college head coach and currently on Jesse's Chargers staff.

Jesse Minter's Chargers are allowing an NFL-low 13.1 points per game. Here's how he's done it so far, and how he might keep it up as the schedule gets much tougher.

Depth at DB has been incredible.

Poona Ford and Tear Tart have been great additions in the middle.

Theyve unlocked Henley and added Perryman.

Derwin has a more consistent role.

Minter has them all playing fast but under control. We rarely see missed tackles. The guys that were here are playing better than before and the guys they've brought in for pennies or lower round draft picks are having great years.

It can, but that wasn't what was happen with us.

Our defensive improvement is about the coaches improving the technique, teamwork and communications among our players. Our players looked lost in Staley's D after several season. They had games where and there, even some short streaks, but it was always an adventure to see if players could get lined up and play as a unit. This year, you can count on one hand the number of "confusion" plays, where guys look lost or make major mental errors. There are lots of plays where guys look surprised, but then you see our LB & DB communicating and we get lined up and it's not a problem. And I have lost count of the plays where our DB or LB are calling out what an offensive players is doing before he does it. Minter has done an amazing job.

I think the D can be better with some personnel tweeks, but it seems like most of them are having career years, or close to it. Our D is playing well enough to win a SB, if the O can continue to improve.

I am hoping that Minter decides to come back. Some of the HC jobs are not super attractive, and Minter can continue to learn while improving the D. Maybe it is wishful thinking (or delusional on my part), but I hope it is. Still, how many of those jobs looks like you can really rebuild the roster. As a young coach, I would really want someone with a history running the front office. And most of the teams struggling (exceptions being Dallas and Cinci) has QB questions.

NFL HC on hot seat or already fired
#1: Mike McCarthy (Cowboys) - Jerry as the GM? and an aging roster
#2: Doug Pederson (Jaguars) - Trent Baalke - the guy who was in the power struggle with Harbaugh back in SF
#3: Matt Eberflus (Bears) - Ryan Poles -
#4: Brian Daboll (Giants) - Joe Schoen - Finally giving up on Jones?
#5: Antonio Pierce (Raiders) - TT - nuff said plus no QB
#6: Zac Taylor (Bengals) - Duke Tobin - has never built a decent OL
#7: Jerod Mayo (Patriots) - Elliott Wolf -
#9: Kevin Stefanski (Browns) -Andrew Berry - stuck with Watson for another year
#10: Mike McDaniel (Dolphins) - Chris Grier - how is the Tua situation going to play out
#11 Dennis Allen (Saints) - Mickey Loomis - job already open, Carr at QB
#12 Robert Saleh (Jets) - Joe Douglas - There is a history here, since Douglas come from Baltimore, but they have no QB

I may not have been clear - it is possible to add enough talent to take a squad from 26 to Top 5. What i meant is what you said - LAC did not add enough talent to the defense to make that much difference. Its coaching and design

a positive for this D...they held cinci to less than their season avg but now their D probably dropped to 2nd place. next week gotta keep lamar in the pocket and hit him a bunch.

our defense was allowing 13 points thru 9 games, they allowed 14 more than their avg, but divide those 14 points over ten games and it's a 1.4 point increase, from 13 to 14.4, they might still be ahead of the Steelers even after allowing 27...

Spags didn't cover himself in glory (10-38 record) when he was the HC of the Rams, so I don't know if teams are in that big a hurry to give him another chance. Having the worst record in football 2 out of your 3 years doesn't inspire confidence, or at the very least requires a lot of rehabilitation in some peoples eyes. He was also 1-3 as NYG interim HC after MacAddoo was fired.
