That is worded better. Of course he’d like one, but would he rather have an elite RB or another elite offensive or defensive lineman.

I have seen more than a few posts suggesting the Chargers do not to invest early draft picks on TE, WR, RB and that marginal depth guys like Fedoko can be viable NFL difference makers ....or that all we need to do is shore up IOL and Herbert can do the rest.

        I think the answer to this question is obvious . . . . . . . . at least in Jim's mind

I would tend to agree - I guess we’ll see what the team chooses to address this offseason.

            Couple of things:

            1) There is no way to assess who or what positions the Chargers are going to draft. Hortiz/Harbaugh have had only 1 draft together. Rumor was Chargers had decision between OT and WR in the 1st in the last draft and chose OT. They were seriously considering drafting a WR in the 1st.

            2) Harbaugh has already proved he can with marginal WR depth guys this year. That doesn't mean that they are not going to draft a WR, TE, or RB in rnd 1. It just shows that Harbaugh and the staff know how to squeeze the most out of their players.

What this tells me is that they are not going to take a WR, TE, or RB in the 1st unless if that player is the best player on their board. They aren't going to reach for need.
Time to put my money where my mouth is: Hampton will be better than Jeanty!

We have more resources (cap space, draft choices) for this upcoming offseason than we've had in years . . . . . . . . . . . it's never been more evident what was holding us back all those years, and there's no spending cap on coaching and management personnel !!

Many posters here don’t want to use top FA $ and also don’t want to use a top draft pick for a top college WR at the same time. They may not “be adverse” but they don’t value it.

It’s posted somewhere in these pages daily, it seems. It’s ubiquitous to a segment of the community, imo.

I am not 100% adamant we must get a top end WR, as long as we get a legit pass catching TE and a good RB in the most stacked RB draft in memory.

I just want a better array of weapons for Herbert overall. I leave it to Hortiz how he wants to attack it but the skill positions need an upgrade to get this offense to the nexr level..along with upgrading IOL

i agree, but after watching Chase and Higgins today, i won't be sad if we pick up a WR1.

Drafting McConkey at the top of the 2nd round-- and moving up to do it-- pretty much proves that Hortiz and Harbaugh will invest a high pick at ANY of those positions you mention, under the right circumstances. But not just *any* guy. It has to be the *right* guy.

One look at the season that McConkey is having tells you that he was the "right guy".
