As has been said many times, lots of teams work with cap issues every season, we have done the clean, neat, perfect cap and have NOTHING to show for it. Lets try the other way for a change.
Well if being honest - part of the problem is having one of the worst GMs in football the last 11 years

All of the cap issues stem from the Front Office

As have said, I can justify pushing cap for Allen and Mack - but Joey Bosa - do you think he has earned his $22 for the coming season? yes or no

So you are comparing 45 years of pristine cap to 1 year of dirty cap.

Ok then, lets try 45 years of dirty cap for a fair comparison.

MW unfortunately needs to be a cap casualty. I do not have that same confidence for a later round edge draft pick and I want to do other things with the draft than just replace players we have.

Bosa is 22M dead cap this year to cut him, only 14M possible cap saving. his dead cap drops to only 7Mish or so next year. Next year would be the year to cut him, I think. I would

        - MW cut $23M
        - Liinsley retire $9M, cum $32M
        - Kendricks cut $6.5M, cum $38.5
        - Extend Slayer - generate $7M 2024 cap savings

Thats it for March. Let the dust settle, see if there are any REAL offers for our existing players, plot out the plan for how to configure the entire roster/cap end to end ... no rash emotional moves now.
Well - you would need reduce Keenan by $12m as MW only counts $20m and you see closer to 46m

That said, I am not sure how moving on from Bosa is rash. The guy is overpaid and overrated and not worth $22m of cap space.

You can make him a June 1 cut and use his money on three guys that will give you more than that guy

It is time to take the homer glasses off. Bosa has become one of the most overpaid underachieving players in the NFL.

I guess some here think Jim Harbaugh can solve all problems and part oceans, but the fact is this very top heavy roster is nothing but a bunch of under achievers who have won nothing. I am surprised many here just cant bear to part with the big 4 and want to trot them all back and keep mortgaging our future cap health.

If there was every time to make some changes and change the culture of this team it is now. Not to mention with draft picks to sign we are 55 million over the cap, some business decisions have to be made.

Rip off some bad aids. Lets get younger, faster and more physical and get our cap in good shape, before we have to start paying Herbert 52 million a year.

And real leadership for the future.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
            Let’s win one for Mack.

I made the same point, not their fault but in their careers - but playoff wins, Allen has two, Bosa and MW have one and Mack, I don't think has won any unless he won with the Bears. The Chargers are not breaking up any dynasty here. Hell maybe the Chargers held on to Rivers too long.

I just don't want to start chasing cap for a 5-12 team that as Popper pointed how, has a boat load of holes. So, Allen and Mack, with smartly written contracts, fine. Though if Detroit offers a 3rd for Mack I am taking it. But Bosa and MW - -nope, just don't see the value

No injured players earn their full salary. That is the way of sports.

I just want to see what Minter and Harbaugh do with Mack, Bosa, and Tuli together and not scrubs out of the TT dumpster.

So you are willing to pay Bosa his $22m for the 2024 season - which unless they take pay cuts, to keep Allen and both Mack and Bosa will be pushing $40-45m - to keep all three at their current salaries.

it's high time to turn the page on Bosa, he cannot be counted on to either stay on the field or even when he is on the field...for all that natural ability he has, he plays in a way that consistently costs the team with horrible penalties and just plain dumb mistakes...I worry about his ability to stay tuned in for the course of a season...

No, I would restructure them. There are other teams that make this work every season but for some reason supposedly it cannot be done here.

Well we will see what Harbaugh does. He will make the decision baaed on his assessment and not overly emotional responses from a few squeaky wheels in the fan base.

                          A non biased approach.
