Hortiz said a good GM moves slowly and thoughtfully. He does not have to anything until March 13. I am sure he is working hard, seeing who is willing to restructure or take a paycut or who he can trade. I would rather he do this right than do it fast. We will know soon enough.
I think the release of Kendricks tells us he would not take a paycut, no one was going to trade for him, and he was not worth extending to get instant cap relief. So that one was easy. The others taking longer indicates there is potential for something other than an outright cut. And what he has to do with Keenan, Bosa, Williams and Mack may be sequential/mutually dependent. So I expect all of it to happen at once when it does happen.
TGLike, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

As much as I like the player transactions like others - I agree - Hortiz has until March 13 like you said plus the legal tampering period starts on Monday. So matybe if there is a trade with Mack - that allows the other team to negotiate a new contract for when the trade is approved - or Bosa or WilliamsOriginally posted by Heatmiser View PostHortiz said a good GM moves slowly and thoughtfully. The Bills went crazy yesterday - all their moves -one fell swoop. The Saints are slowly going player by player in the media - though they know exactly what they need to do
And like you said, if there is a trade market for Williams, Bosa and Mack - that means Hortiz has to make other moves to get under the cap -- but if you can get value for those three - you make the right moves.
Still looking forward to seeing the JH1 vision - fun times ahead

From Russini on Twitter:
Many GMs are approaching this free agency as the RBs, LBs, and safety markets to be similar to the past. Lower deals than we may imagine. Depressed market for those positions. A lot of one year deals.
RB and LB - two areas of need for the Chargers, should be able to get good value. And with the safeties being released this week, Gilman should have good value as well. Tough time to be a RB but just not sure they should pay Barkley that much when they can get good value at RB and spend elsewhere

Morse is probably better than Cole but for the money - does it make sense. Both are one year stop gaps until you see what the draft brings - or doesn't bring.Originally posted by Leslie Grossman View Post
The Coach Reid Tackle to Center conversion.
If he was 2 years younger or this was Year 3 of Harbaugh I would be in.

This long-time Browns beat writer for the Cleveland Plain Dealer opines the Browns should trade for Mike Williams. I'd forgotten that Mike's QB at Clemson was none other than DeShaun Watson, both drafted in the first round in 2017. I'd be happy to get even a low round pick for Williams, and I think there are teams against whom Mike has had big games who might be willing to surrender a pick for him. The Chargers played the Browns in 2021 and 2022, both victories, with Mike excelling in both games. In 2021 he had 165 yds receiving and two long TD receptions (remember that game?), in 2022 he didn't score but had 134 yds receiving. Kevin Stefanski was the coach in both of those games, so maybe he would be willing to trade for Mike?

Good point, prefer to get the new and future center now and use stop gaps on defense. O Line and building the run game sure appears to be Harbaugh’s priority in this year 1 rebuild.
Going to lose a lot of close games but that is the way forward.Last edited by Leslie Grossman; 03-07-2024, 06:59 AM.
