agree!.... Those teams were maybe the most fun teams to watch in history!

one of those years Chargers had like 9 offensive players in pro bowl: Fouts, Winslow, Joiner, Chandler, Muncie, Brooks, and 3 of the OL.... best offense in history and defenses could actually beat the crap out of QB's and receivers in those days.... lol....and there were some great nasty defenses, like raiders, steelers, broncows, cowboys.....etc...
Chargers put up 35 points on the HOF Steelers defense.......

I doubt if it was anything nefarious in Brenden's case. The top 6 3rd rounder and the top 7 picks from the 4th round were deadlocked by some CBA language and their contract relating in parallel to that of the same from the prior year's agreement (the way which I understood it). I don't know how many of these draftees are singing their contracts as we head into the TC next month but I doubt if any one of them will remain unsigned by then.

Only Mendoza and Simpson seem to remain unsigned from the 1st round; I don't understand Ty Simpson's situation but Mendoza is just par for the course as he will most likely be the last one to officially sign! Interesting the player who was traded for at our original spot #55 (Chargers ---> Pats), Gabe Jacas is the only unsigned 2nd rounder whose circumstances (reportedly AWOL at the OTAs) rumored to be injuries and guaranteed contract issues are lingering on.

            There was no urgency, right?

As long as there was no 'bad blood' being created, the timing of Brenan's signing is pretty much inconsequential.

Geez even with salary money slots in the draft will have problems signing players. What on earth could Mendoza be waiting for? He gets the most money lol

Once players sign their contract, they are generally agreeing to restrictions that they aren't held to when they're UNsigned. For example, I've heard of teams having contract clauses that forbid the player from engaging in 'high risk' activities, such as auto racing or skydiving.

Mendoza doesn't stand to lose any contract value by waiting to sign, so he has no particular incentive to sign before camp starts.

Yes, and deep sea diving and swimming with tiger sharks.

What about igniting cherry bombs right in front of your face?

He also has no reason not to. If he does any of those things and gets injured or has a career threatening injury from it, he is a dumbass anyway. Got millions staring you in the face.

Not sure how this works, but what if Mendoza gets injured BEFORE he signs his contract? Is that a risk to consider?

AI says the Raiders do not have to offer him a contract.
