Texans just sign an OG - Evan Brown -- so maybe he is depth and they still want TellerOriginally posted by Steve View Post
Teller's people are probably trying to drive the price up. It's not like he is in a big hurry. He isn't missing reps in mini-camp or anything.
Plus, can he pass a physical??? I would think so, but his injury was pretty late in the season.
Hortiz needs to close the deal on this dammit

lol I think there is plenty of complaining about Hortiz’ OL improvements or lack thereof. It has dominated TPB all week. I don’t even disagree, I’m just waiting to see what the end result is going to be so I know what I’m complaining about.
You'd be complaining about how he's gone about his OL "improvements" so far (including last year's strategy, which feels eerily similar to this year).
Feels fairly straightforward and easy to dissect and assess currently.

According to Kollman on a recent podcast, next year's draft is supposed to be historic. (2027)
so while Hortiz is always a comp-freak, this would be especially true this offseason.

2027 will be outstanding draft. I have been bringing that up to those who suggest Joe can also use trades to bolster IOL if he doesn't sign anyone good. Well with only 5 draft picks that leaves trading away 2027 picks. You really don't want to be doing that. Already lost one 2027 pick for fucking DeculusOriginally posted by 21&500 View PostAccording to Kollman on a recent podcast, next year's draft is supposed to be historic. (2027)

Hence, why the Salyer contract is huge. If he signs for enough, that could be a second comp pick next and for Zion, that would be a 4th rounder
So if Salyer could get in that 4.5m APY range, maybe if its 4m, the Chargers would get another 2027 pick

i waited for the entire week. Joe should have done more on the IOL in FA. I do not care that or IF McD’s offense can work without all pro OGs. Better is better, and he should have done more.Originally posted by BayAreaBoltz View Post

I truly wanted Hortiz to go a bit more aggressively in free agency about getting difference making talent. And if he wants to go cheaper on OL with say Biadasz, Strange and draft pick/Burford/Penning type - fine - but what the hell -he still had a boatload to spend elsewhere like CB or LB. Well maybe not LB. I know he tried for WR - -- looking at Poppers remaining players from his top 75
Juaun Jennings - those bogus insiders had this guy to the Bolts - don't see it unless they get a 4th comp pick for Zion and too be honest, probably would take 3, 5 or 6 from the list below combined with a 4th round pick over Jennings
Joeys Bosa -- think he is going to SF but nope, he didn't end well in Buffalo
Keenan - - maybe later this summer or post draft
Clowney - -post draft/summer
A-A-Ron Rodgers -next
Stephon Diggs - post draft summer
Deebo - don't see it but if he is signed, post draft
Bitonio - post draft but think he is retiring
Zeitler - doesnt want the west coast so probably goes back to TN or maybe the NYGiants this summer
Cam Jordan - post draft, so don't lose the comp pick but for Edge3, he or Clowney for me

Agreed, but we'll see if some of these guys blossom in McD's scheme.Originally posted by dmac_bolt View Post

TBH, I would rather just take straight up talent over scheme-fit. Coordinators/schemes change all the time. Talent > all.
Herbert's not 21 anymore. Still young, of course, but seems like malfeasance to waste his prime years trying to stock pile comp picks for 2027 and beyond. What about today? Every year that we don't do the absolute most/best to help him out feels like a shame.ESPN Screename: GoBolts02

I think this is why I think Hortiz should have pushed it a little. Herbert just turned 28 - its go time.Originally posted by Boltx View Post

I know lol..it is like because we have Mike McDaniel and his system we don't need good playersOriginally posted by dmac_bolt View Post

I love the hiring of Mike. He is a good offensive mind, but he is not the Messiah. His offense was very good in 2022 and 2023,,,not so good in 2024 and 2025. Maybe his system needed better players because it did not produce enough wins or success to keep him from getting fired.
