He's one of the few guys I was hoping to re-sign.Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
Let’s win one for Mack.

Happy to resign him and happy with the terms. That’s solid value for a guy who played way better than I ever thought he was capable of playing. He was our best safety this year (I’m praying that Derwin returns to form next year).

Drafted by the Lynn regime, survived the Staley era despite multiple resources invested in upgrading his position.
now Minter stamps his approval.

He's a super smart, aware guy on the field, always around the ball and making things happen. Glad to see his hard work pay off.

If you remember, the Chargers drafted Gilman on a recommendation from Drue Tranquil. After Tranquil's rookie season the Chargers' front office asked players recently out of college who they would recommend from their college teams. Tranquill singled out Notre Dame teammate Gilman.
Gilman is a playmaker. Always seems to know there the ball is going. But he can be a liability as a pure pass defender.
The Gilman re-signing is why they won't let Keenan Allen go anywhere. Harbaugh/Hortiz aren't stupid. They know the value of the players.
