If you have kids (or a significant other lol) you can see this human trait in action. I can tell my kids something over and over and if their friends say it once it’s gospel.

It’s human nature to do this I think but it would be interesting to know why it happens.

Doesn’t seem right. I think they really needed to free up some more money to build a competitive roster even after the cutting and trimming they did with the other 3 huge cap hits. I bet they wanted to keep Keenan but only if there was a way to do it AND free up cash. He didn’t want to and I can certainly understand that. I just don’t think there is a side to hate on this one. Both sides had to make choices.
Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

I was just hopeful Herbert and Allen could win a SB.

chargers still have to get FA to fill open positions because Draft will not fill that.
I know right. And Bosa is blocking Tuli who seems to have a strong bond with Mack. Brining back Bosa was a head scratcher.

They wanted to free up cash and not have to move the cap hit to next year. They wanted to not pay him what he earned and knew that asking him to take a pay cut would create a non zero chance of him getting moved. I would even guess it was a high chance they knew from his agent he wasn’t amenable to that.

If I were Allen I would have said “ get me to a Super Bowl and I’ll take a pay cut.’ If not I’ll just take my money you owe me and move on.

Allen can come back once his contract is done because. I think we all know this is a full rebuild and will take a few years. He might as well take the money and have the option to possibly play for a contender after his contract.

It’s not like Harbaugh won a ton of Nation championships like Nick Sabin. He was only the second best coach in collage football by a mile. We all agree Harbaugh will be better than many of the past Coaches but he now has to prove it.

Good point. I guess that falls on Palmer now. Jeez

It doesn't bother me at all, either. It should have happened last year. The same people didn't get it last year, and what do you know--we went 5-12.

Real question, how many years of Herbert’s prime and 50+ million year contract are we willing to waste on the rebuild for Harbaugh? 1? 2?! 3!?! If 2 than he has a slim 3 year window to win the big one. In the mean time We have a franchise QB just waiting. I personally dont like waiving the white flag on any of Herbert’s prime years.

Same question to you, how many years are you ok with wasting Herbert’s prime while we wait for Harbaugh to rebuild? When do you start holding Harbaugh accountable?

He mentioned he found out when he was talking with his agent about his chargers contract so clearly he was engaging with the FO through his agent. He didn’t stone wall them or anything.

Allen is a consummate professional on and off the field. He is t going to air his dirty laundry in his first bears press conference or really this season. He might tell more when he retires but right now he has to play with players in Chicago and can’t come out and say he’s super sad and doesn’t want to leave LA…
One thing I wouldn't mind hearing at the Bears press conference or any time between getting traded and now is maybe a "thank you" to us SD and LA Chargers fans for have loved and supported him throughout the years.
... I'm sure it's coming soon unless it's all business between himself and us fans too.
maybe no more leftover love after giving it all to his agent publicly.
KA is a good guy but he's not bright and if he thinks his agent has his best interest at heart he's even dimmer than I thought.
His best interest is to recognize that he had his best season because he was the only force-fed choice Herbert had and every DC they faced gladly gave him whatever years they wanted so long at they won the game.
a little modesty would have given him a better perspective of his 2023 season and just maybe humbled him enough to do what is truly in his best interest which is to shave off a few dollars, be here in LA with his wife and children and becoming the Chargers legend he was on track to being. Yes that's a judgment from me but an absolutely valid one that KA knows is true today as he regrets his decisions leading up to his trade.

I don't think we'll waste any. We had Keenan Allen on the roster for all four of Herbert's seasons so far. I'll say those four years were wasted.

We now have a head coach who has been to three conference championship games and one Super Bowl during his four years running a team in the NFL. He won everywhere he was as a head coach in college, putting the exclamation point on it with a National Championship this past season. Why don't you wait and see what he does for at least one year before losing all of your faith in him after he and Hortiz traded Allen, a soon-to-be 32-year-old wide receiver we won two playoff games with in three postseason appearances during his 11 years on the team?

See that’s where you and I differ. I never had faith in him, I have hope he will do well but last time I was excited about an offseason we fell on our faces. I’ve learned that winning the offseason means nothing and winning football games means everything.

I suspect you make him do more than sign a huge co tract before you have any faith in him. The NFL has changed in the last 19 years and he may find WRs more necessary now than 10 years ago.

I love how as soon as we traded Allen he all of a sudden became the reason why this team didn’t win in the playoffs. It’s really funny to watch the mental gymnastics that people do to forget what Allen has done for this team and how little Harbaugh has.
