Come November, Keenan's going to wish he were in LA instead of Chicago. Especially if he has to play in Green Bay.

When I moved up here (Wisconsin), I'd already had 8 yr. in St. Louis. I think it would have been rough coming straight to this kind of weather from So. Cal.

I'm really sad about this, but understand. Not many get to finish with their original team.

Allen has 5 seasons of 100+ receptions and one of those came in 12 games last year. He is in top form and I suspect we see him tear it up in Chicago and unless there are some big moves here Herbert is going to have some tough sledding. This year is going to be a painful rebuild unfortunately. I’m along for the ride but I don’t agree at all.
Or he could be plagued by hammy problems at 32 and start to slowly decline.

You may think it is unfair but there are new sherrifs in town and things are going to be different. Like all of us I am sure you jumped up and down when we got Harbaugh, Hortiz and company. Well this is the new reality. Harbaugh will change the losing culture with a team first mentality. Hortiz will make fiscally responsible football business decisions with long term success in mind.

We will not see any more crazy situations with 4 players taking up 140 million and over half of all cap space for a team that cant make the playoffs.

Allen is a great player and I appreciate all that he's done for the team over the years, but the move doesn't bother me as much as it does others. Sell high, buy low.

That about sizes it up perfectly. Appreciate Keenan, would have liked to keep him, sad it see him go...but good teams make the tough decisions for the big picture. Time to move forward and build a winning football program in LA.

Emotionally disappointed but I don't blame Keenan for not taking a pay cut and I don't blame the front office for making the move they think they needed to do. Business is business. I still don't see the chargers standing pat at 5 and trading down and taking a cb/wr/edge in the first two days and bringing in a veteran center to help right the ship.

Well we have 5 years with Herbert, maybe we should trade him and pick up JJ if we’re in it for the long term rebuild? I mean we could just waste two or three years of his athletic prime and Hundreds of millions of dollars rebuilding with a prime Herbert or….

So getting rid of good players and leaving your Franchise QB that you’re paying 50+ million to a bunch of scrubs is winning football?

Yup probably correct and we’re going to have to watch Herbert and this team slowly rebuild back to competition. It’s the smart thing to do now that they waived the white flag.

they could have kept him. Based on Spotrac they only needed a couple million to make it work but I guess it’s better to just take your medicine while paying Herbert 50+ mil a year to oversee a rebuild.

Were you pounding the table to trade Keenan this offseason before it happened? You were in the keep Bosa and trade Keenan frame of mind?

Sounds like your just saying the teams always right, in Harbaugh we trust, fuck anyone who disagrees.

I am not choosing to die at all. I am choosing to express my frustration and disappointment of having one of my all time favorite players dumped while he is still great and a good cap value for a 4th round choice when we don't have anything waiting in the wings to replace what we have lost. This is a great place to do that, thanks to FLEET for keeping this place open for all of us.

Most people find this a shocking and stunning move and are struggling to make sense of it outside of some people who treat the loyalty to the franchise like their religion that they can not question.
I asked a question, in another thread (and it was never answered) about whether we had to do *anything* with KA once the Bosa restructure was finalized. In other words, I wasn't convinced that KA was 'safe' with his current contract in place the way it was. Do I like the trade? Not totally, but only because I don't think we got enough in return. But from what I've been reading, it almost sounds like we were going to cut him, so getting ANYTHING in return is better than nothing, no? In the back of my mind - and it turned out to be true - I figured that there was something left undone with KA and his contract, which is why I asked TPB faithful about KA. I can only imagine the backlash if KA was cut outright.

And, gosh BB, you should know me by now: When I have *EVER* said the team was always right? I was tearing the team several new butt holes - starting with Spanos and working my way down - just about all of last year. Much to the chagrin of those I "affectionately" refer to as 'Pollyannas'? My loyalty to the franchise is tenuous, at best, I'd say. I - we - have endured enough to question everything.

But I think we all have to accept the fact that the new Sheriffs in town have a plan and I, for one, am pleased (so far) that they're not just regurgitating the same old shit that has seen us become a laughingstock in the League since TT took over. Endlessly lamenting KA's departure is not going to bring him back. And calling for H&H to be fired, two months into their first OFFseason, is kinda ridiculous, IMO.

That’s funny that you think anyone is calling for them to be fired. Maybe I missed it on here but most people who disagree are expressing that they think this was a bad move and will hurt the teams chances of winning, not Harbaugh or Trader Joe need to be fired but maybe I’m wrong m, if you can provide quotes I’ll eat crow.

This move happened and there isn’t anything to be done that will change it, but you of all people should understand that you have to call out bad moves when you see them. If they turn out good then great, but if not you have to make sure that as a fan base we hold our FO and coaches accountable. If we just drink the coolaid then what are we doing?

Really? LIke what? I'm all ears on this one. Taking less money - or RESTRUCTURING his deal to have less of a cap his THIS year - was what the team requested of him and is what the team NEEDED. According to reports he refused to: 1) Take a pay cut; 2) restructure; or 3) add year(s) to his current deal. I think we're lucky we found a trade partner. Because it seems to me, more and more, as if he was going to be cut.

I think it was a strategic trade...meaning they took less to get him out of the AFC for two years. By then he's getting close to retirement or has lost a step.
