You really don't have much of a choice for NFL team since colleges hardly use FB anymore. Even if there is one on the roster, they hardly play in spread offenses.

Richard was a DL who was converted to FB, although now he is being used more like a TE now that Roman is gone. Lorenzo Neal was a regular RB when he was in college and wasn't converted to being a full time FB until he got to the NFL. Michael Robinson the TV guy was a QB at Penn State before he was converted to play FB by Mike Nolan. The guys that TT kept bringing in were former RB who got converted and a crash course in blocking.

In the end somebody will get lined up in the backfield at the traditional FB spot in goalline just because it allows the offense to attack the D anywhere along the line without giving an obvious read to the D. But it is just going to be who they can find to do it. If that someone is pretty good, then maybe they get used on more than just goalline/short yardage.

If you aren't giving a guy reps, it is hard for that player to get better If the guy is not that good it is hard to justify using him more, which is a big part of why the NFL is so bad at developing players.
    IMO Matlock gets a shot.

You bring back memories. I remember him actually slowing down and almost running the wrong way to hit someone while he had the ball in his hands.

Maybe just for goal-line situations. Matlock will be needed more on defense. He provides pass rushing on the interior of the d-line that the defense needs more of.

I'm guessing they aren't bringing Stephen Anderson back. The team should bring in a similar player, if they haven't decided on what to do with the position.

is Anderson still out there, I can see him being a one year bridge guy while they find their FB of the future...

According to Wiki, Anderson is a street FA. He was on our roster at some point last year but never played. His last playing year was 2022 for Arizona.

Since he is a 6 year vet and over the age of 30, the chances of him getting another shot in the NFL are pretty slim.

Guys like Anderson aren't a dime a dozen, but there are younger guys out there who could bring as much as a game day guy, and who could develop down the road. Anderson is a guy who never really had a peak.

One of the problems on these simulator boards is that very draftable prospects exist that are completely hidden.
              "Jiggers" ?? Anyone ?? Bueller ??
Well, there is a Huskie fullback that we can easily draft with one of our round 7 picks.
We do not play modern football.

We signed former Ravens FB Ben Mason

Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh will be reunited with one of his former Michigan players during his first year back in the NFL.

                  Interesting.
no offer to JK Dobbins, he's now in KC begging for a 1 year deal
And we settle for their FB
maybe the chances of Bowers takes a slight hit.
Either way, this should be fun.
                  G-Ro knows.

I’m sure it was very meaningful.

BTW, thread title change, Welcome Ben Mason?

He gets a try out. Could be camp fodder 🤷
