    Bye Bye Flowers

Michael Gehlken ‏@sdutGehlken 33m33 minutes ago

Chargers place CB Brandon Flowers on IR. Effectively, he missed 10 games to two concussions this year. Four concussions past three seasons.
And so ends his career with the Bolts.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Too bad. He was looking good earlier this year.

Showed glimpses but has regressed since coming to the Chargers as a FA. Would not be surprised if his career in the league is done.

I disagree. Last year he played badly, but he played well when he was healthy this season.

          I thought so too.

But the concussions are concerning... the first one this season cost him what... 5-6 games? Then another, and he can't make it back.

Not sure that is fixable. Hope Flowers takes the hint, and has saved some money.

He just always seemed to be less aggressive since signing. I agree he did pick it up a bit this season but just to little to late. He was not terrible but did not play to the level of his contract.

After his 1st year here, he got a big contract. And he hasn't played up to the level of the contract. I put him in he disappointment category.

The good news is there are some top corners available where pick in the top of draft.

Former Chiefs and Chargers CB Brandon Flowers is retiring after nine seasons in the NFL.

A second-round pick in 2008, Flowers spent the first six seasons of his career with the Chiefs before signing on with the Chargers for the final three. Flowers has a lengthy concussion history that likely is playing a large role in this decision. Flowers, 31, met with the Cardinals last month and also spoke with the Steelers and Patriots. Flowers went to one Pro Bowl and picked off 21 passes.

Definitely made the right choice - he had way too many concussions recently and has his health and family to think about.

Definitely glad he decided to retire. Has to be a tough decision.
But I wondered about him last year, with how long it was taking him to recover.
Glad no other teams didn't give him the opportunity to damage himself further.
