Fitting end to a shitty franchise

If Eli and daddy were right, then the Chargers would have never had a gaping wide window to win a super bowl that opened up a year or so after Eli threw his little hissy fit. He couldn't have been more wrong in that sense. Really came down more to continued bad fortune on our part not to get away with a SB win during the Rivers/Brees/LT era.

We didn't win a Superbowl whether we had a window or not. Also they didn't want to be here for whatever reason. I assume they didn't like the franchise or the market and We don't have a big history of success. Either way, they were right on all accounts.

The logic is pretty simple to follow. They wanted Eli to go to a place where he could succeed. Then in the years soon after, the Chargers were kicking ass for a long time and had plenty of opportunities. Unfortunately, you absolutely need good luck to win as well, and we can't buy any good luck. But, let's not be revisionists here. If Eli had said Spanos is a shitty owner, we just don't want to deal with him, then we'd all be in agreement. But for much of Eli's early career the Chargers were a top team.

Gotta throw AJ in there too simply because of the dynamic he and Marty created. They were a pretty formidable duo but their feud tore this franchise apart. We're still feeling the impact of that nasty split. Marty deserved one more year to try to get the ring but it all blew apart on that fateful day against the Cheats.
