We have added so much speed on this draft. I would say wow.

I think I would like to see them sign Brandon Scherff OG. Maybe it's just me but I'm still not very confident with the LG position.

Time to put my money where my mouth is: Hampton will be better than Jeanty!

Funny reading some of the recap grades handed out by pundits. CBS & Chris Trapasso gave us the lowest grade in the AFC West. He graded KC & LV an "A", the Broncos a "B" and gave us a "B-". The one thing that struck me about his write-ups was how much he injected "HIS" opinions on our draft with the use of "I" as in "ME,ME,ME". KC & Vegas got one "I" total, Denver got 3 while we got 5 in 3 sentences. He really was down, as in negative on the Caldwell pick TBT. He seemed to want to pull down the pants of the KC GM and go to town while bringing along his sister for the Raiders & Brady.

NFL.com did us a bit better with an A- while LV got and A, KC got an A- and Denver a B+. They loved the Kennard value and lauded finding Gadsen where we did. He spoke highly of Taylor citing that if he was injury free, he would have gone much earlier. They also noted the Mickens pick which is still one of my favorites. They had him ranked at 108 overall and we got him at 199?

Anyway, the draft is over so all of the talking heads can go to hell. I did not see one second of Kiper's BS and felt all the better for that. NFL network had good coverage until they broke away for 20 minutes to give Shadur and Daddy exclusive coverage while ignoring the young men being drafted at the time. Their names got posted to the screen for a few seconds and that was all. Shame on those folks for stealing their thunder to cover another 5th round pick.

Per Alex Katson, Bell has never played a down of college football. He did tryout at offensive tackle at West Virginia.
          We play modern Harball.

This⬆️. LC Boy is spot on.

Not just the Chargers, but the draft in general, after the first 5-7 picks the paid pundits put too much ME into draft selections. Delusional expertise. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Even a blind squirrel…. and so on.

Thought it was a fun Chargers draft. Hearing, actually didn’t watch the circus much, just kept scanning the net. Almost every selection, was “what/who?” Then researching and thinking, ok that will work. Again, a fun draft. Kudos to the staff!

He's over 6'9" tall almost 6'10", and watching video of him playing basketball made me wonder why he hadn't opted for football sooner. I'm not saying he's unathletic but compared to other basketball players he looked slow.

In the short clip of highlights I've seen of him is that he has a pretty good movement skills for a big guy and can get real movement in the run game imo. It's a developmental pick and for a 6th that's pretty common.
Hortiz and Harbaugh will always prefer a guy that played OT to transition inside over a guy that played inside in college...it's just their preference, I think Harbaugh has been quoted as saying that he'd like to have OTs at all 5 positions on the O-line. I've only just started looking into Taylor but already one thing pops on the video, he's a big man, standing 6'6" 320 and he's got a wide base and a big anchor, his 33" arms might not be ideal at OT but work just fine at G, but the thing that's stood out the most to me so far is his hands, his hands must be really strong because once he latches on he's no going anywhere and his feet can keep up with his upper body, he's got dancing feet. He might get a redshirt in 2025 because he's only 6 months away from tearing his minuscus.

They drafted nine players (none yet under contract, of course) and announced that they had agreed to terms with 18 undrafted free agents. That's 92 players, or two more than allowed. So I went through the roster on the Chargers' website, and six of last year's practice squad players--who the Chargers announced on Jan 13 had been signed to reserve/future contracts for the 2025-2026 league year--are not listed, giving them only 59 players included in the roster on the website. The missing players are:

                    WR Jaylen Johnson

                    TE McCallan Castles

                    Edge Tre'Mon Morris-Brash

                    Edge Caleb Murphy

                    LB Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste

                    S Kendall Williamson

So did the Chargers let them go, or is the roster on the website incomplete?
This is nothing new for the Chargers, they always lag behind in updating their roster and it's kind of frustrating, especially during the season as guys get put on IR and guys get signed off the street etc...I see other teams update their rosters immediately. It doesn't cost anything to have an intern who makes nothing keep the roster current with photos of the players and everything else. It's just either not a priority to the organization or they prefer other teams not to be able to go on their website and gain access to information in real time, IDK.

The players you posted are on the roster, but yes, they signed more players than they have room on the 90 man roster, my guess is that they need to cut 3-4 guys to get down to 90 players...I don't think they'll cut any of the 18-19 UDRFAs that they just signed.

And if Andre James wins the Center position instead, Zion can just stay at LG (inconsistency and all).
I thought this draft was very exciting because we had been conditioned to think that they'd continue to focus on the trenches and BAMM we get hit with offensive firepower in the first two rounds and then again in round 5 with one of the faster WRs at this years combine and a pass catching TE that they traded up to get...I was not expecting that at all although it was pretty clear that they desperately needed to give Herbert some more weapons.

We'll find out if Harbaugh was just spitballing in talking about converting Zion to being a center.

Moving Pip to LG smells like trouble.

Will Hernandez is still out there too...they can easily afford it without hurting future cap years...I think there is a good chance they still sign a couple more veteran free agents, they did it last year after the draft and I think they'll do it again...
