I wonder if QJ demolishing a Chiefs' DB (Josh Williams) and knocking him out of the game will help Q understand that he has the physical attributes to dominate/intimidate DBs, not the other way around.

Is Stone Smartt going to become a thing - the pass catching TE the offense so desperately needs?

Kimani Vidal has 12 carries the past two games for a 4.5 yd average. He might be getting better. He's only 5-8, but he's 215 lbs. Remember that.

There are some things I wish Hortiz had done differently, but one thing he did that is paying dividends is he loaded up on players who can get to the QB. He wasn't content with just Bosa, Mack and Tuli, he also got another edge rusher in Dupree, Telesco would not have done this. He also brought in guys like Teair Tart who can get to the QB.

The Chargers only had three sacks on Mahomes, but they gave him a physical beating all night. I don't think Mahomes has taken such a beating all season from any other team. He's going to feel it all week and I'm predicting the Browns beat him next week also and beat the Chiefs in Clev.
Stone Smart is the perfect example that blocking isnt the only thing that matters to an offense in desparate need for playmakers. Roman's archaic offense and the obsession with blocking is the reason an untalented plug like Tucker Fisk has been trotted out there ahead of Smart all year.

Put Fisk out there for extra blocking on the one yard plunges sure, but throwing him the ball for 3 yards in the flat is totally useless.

Smart could be one answer to the lack of passing weapons but it needs to be said that these guys only played him because Dissly (who hasnt done anything offensively of late) was injured.

There were positive signs from QJ and Palmer. If they can build on that, get Ladd back and work Smart in...the passing game might be workable for this year.

    Vidal needs more snaps.

Yep but Harbuagh has continued to keep the players focused on GETTING BETTER! When the games matter most, we'll see how his mantra manifests in the players! The energy in the playoff games kicks up a notch, it will be interesting to see how our guys perform when this happens.????

I do think it’s time to see if Salyer can play guard better than Pipkins. Chiefs have a wall with their middle of the line. I want that to pair with these stellar tackles.
Obviously, Harbaugh and company know more than me, but the Pip/Salyer thing is a mystery to me. If you have to bring in Salyer on short yardage plays then how much do you really trust Pip? Salyer seems to move the pile and our run game REALLY needs piles moved.

Very strange, but enough is enough. Pipkins should not be starting against TB

SInce we are heading for the mid to late first-round draft pick, I'd bet we draft an interior lineman, and everyone will freak out.

I think the answer is Salyer is good at short yardage smash mouth but is even worse than Pipkins in pass blocking.

Are you sure Roman is making that decision or is Harbaugh?

Ugh, parroting of the head coach who stole that line from Marv Levy…I’m not flip flopping, just tired of the same old thing. How many one score games were lost last year? Makes last nights loss feel like more of the same…

Time will tell if Harbaugh is the guy, I don’t simply assume anything.

Dont really care, they are both obsessed with blocking at all costs over playmaking skill. Which is fine if you have a dominating, league leading rushing attack not 19th.

But when you are going multiple quarters without scoring points, a more balanced outlook with more skill in your line up needs to be looked at.

We're favored in each remaining game. For what that is worth.
I was impressed with our third quarter offense vs KC. Two TDs. How long has it been since we last did that? It's been a sore spot with me for a few years. When we're driving the ball the other guys are not and our D gets a break.

But first Tampa Bay. They suck at defense but the O is a good unit. Not great but better than most.

The 3 players that need more touches are Vidal, Smartt and Chark.

Chark had 1 catch for 9 yards and they never used him again. At least he saw more time and will continue if Reagor is out. He’s a weapon they refuse to use.

Finally they use Smartt and he came up big. Hopefully Roman gets his head out of his ass for half the game and can put together a full game of good play calling and using the right players.

Vidal looks more explosive when running the ball and does not go down easy. He needs at least 10 carries a game and a couple passes.

Why is Roman not using RB screens? He uses the 260 lb TE but not the more elusive RBs.

Tankathon has the Chargers losing the WC round and picking at #21.

#21 on PFF's Draft Big Board is Shedeur Sanders. The Chargers aren't drafting him.

#20 is Michigan TE Colston Loveland.

#21 is Texas OT Cameron Williams.

But I don't think the Chargers will lose in the WC round. I think the Chargers at least make it to the Divisional Round. The Divisional Round losers draft 25-28.

#25 on PFF's board is Michigan IDL Kenneth Grant.

#26 is Texas A&M edge rusher Shemar Stewart

#27 is North Carolina RB Omarion Hampton

#28 is Stanford WR Elic Aymanor
