Why not get a good one? Najee is a one year deal and he isn't making 10 mil, his deal is UP TO 9.25. It has incentives.
If we get Andrews for 1 year, are we waiting on a TE til round 5 in this good class?
I still think they do DL and IOL in first 2 rounds maybe RB in 4 or 5. I think they will be looking for a different syle of back, more explosive

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but maybe they are serious about playing Zion at center and in fact the reason they brought back Bozeman, apart from liking his character, is as a fall back option in case Zion doesnt succeed with the switch.

Ah yes. I see the familiar...lots of bellyaching essays after day one.
The early market is insane. Who can blame players for chasing money...or Joe for having a ceiling in what he'll pay ?
Give it about a week. Useful, sensible signings will occur.
You knew what type of players Harbaugh, GRo, Minter would seek. C'mon now.
I am feeling Becton now. Big, burly IOL. And Quinshon Judkins.
wu cannot wait for our PONs to become crystal clear. We'll get this, friends. We play modern Harball.

We still need another RB.
Harris--draft pick--Vidal--Haskins OR Harris--Dobbins--Vidal--Haskins...it would seem kind of weird if they didn't draft a RB in a very good RB class but then again last year they didn't draft a center in a good center class..."The author assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in the content of this post. there's also the possibility that the APY is low but that most of the money is front loaded meaning that they found a way to give him more money for 2025 than he's earned on a one year deal just to have the option to keep him around as depth because it doesn't make sense if he's cut after 2025 and they deal with dead cap for a couple of years...I believe all this is driven by the terrible draft class at center combined with the terrible free agent class at center...
on top of the shortage of quality players, the best center available in the free agent class was a zone blocking guy and the top pure center available in the draft (Wilson) has one year of college starts and is a total project at the position...
Zion looked so good at center in the Senior Bowl that year when he came out that I was convinced that Telesco drafted him with the understanding that he'd take over for Linsley when Corey's deal got into the higher cap numbers...
then last year they decided on their starting lineup really early during OTAs well before training camp and probably for a couple of different reasons, one was to keep as much continuity as possible so that the O-line could gel before the year started but also because they felt that having the experienced Bozeman at center was better than sliding Zion over at that time...I have to imagine that all of those decisions belonged to Roman...so rather than experiment with the lineups all the way up until the season started they pigeon holed themselves into one lineup during the entire offseason...
I do think that they have backed themselves into a corner and that they should've made the switch last year or at least experimented with it last year...now if Zion struggles at center they're going to be stuck with either putting Bozeman back in there or a drafted rookie--had they switched last year Zion would have a year of center play under his belt and they would already know if he was the center of the future or not...
I wrote about this last offseason as I've been advocating for Zion to get a shot at center since we lost Corey...right now Nick Hardwick is working with Zion so there's hope, but if Zion can't make the transition then we could be losing a prime asset in the 2026 offseason that someone out there might turn into a great offensive lineman, Eagles anyone?
There's always the possibility that they've already decided to move on from Zion in 2026 regardless, kind of like what happened with Asante in 2024 after the first couple of games..."The author assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in the content of this post. As standard during the instant gratification of the screen and keyboard era there's a lot of over reaction here. No Superbowl has ever been won in March on Day 1 of Free Agency. Woulda Coulda Shouldas never solved anything. This will be an entirely different team come opening kickoff. Spending wrecklessly just because you have money to spend has never been a wise investment.
