Bradley Bozeman - signed ahead of a REAL Center or Guard - is a joke

I trust Hortiz and Harbaugh. I trust that there are specific players and attributes they are looking for. They are also managing a team with a significant amount of money spent at QB, likely a lot of money being spent at LT with an extension, and a lot of money at safety. In building this team, as I said elsewhere, Hortiz wants to raise the floor. Spending big money on FAs may improve a position, but it means are positions are not addressed; thereby failing to raise the team's floor. Telesco failed miserably at providing this team with a solid floor -- and it showed. We are going to see if Hortiz can do it -- and I think he can.

We should look back and see when players like Poona Ford, Tartt, Fulton, and Dissly were signed. I think they were much later in the FA cycle than folks may realize. You are about to see a ton of players hit the waiver wire, and those players will be cheap, won't cost comp picks, and will raise the floor of this team. Hortiz is adhering to the Ravens model in every way.

Poona was signed on March 14th last year, Tart mid August, Dissly was the first FA they signed, Fulton March 28.

We made the playoffs last year.
KC hasn't got better. Denver, maybe...Raiders got better when they hired Carroll but haven't done much but get Geno as their QB.

One thing, when you have a roster with 51 players, which they have now with Perryman and Juste, the rookies will only cost a NET $3-5m since they are taking the place of players already being allocated.

This is where your analysis is wrong. They have a bunch of money to spend and several positions that need significant upgrades. They don't spend the money evenly across the roster, no team does. Every NFL team has a handful or more of guys getting paid large money, some middle class guys and a bunch of younger players on rookie deals or roster fillers getting paid at the low end. The guys the Chargers are missing out on right now are not getting paid top of the market salaries. they're mid level salaries and we have the money.

The current strategy just means that all positions will be addressed with late cuts, guys who went unsigned for whatever reason (like JK coming off consecutive injuries last year) or draft picks. You've gotta have some big time players on your roster and they usually cost big money.

I hoped we brought in more of the "top rated guys" as well, but just because others did doesn't necessarily mean those signees pan out either. And chances are better than not these teams will be in Cap Hell in a year or 2. We've got a LONG way before opening day kickoff. Sometimes the shiny new whip loses it's luster when the payment is due. I'm not panicking yet.

First they did well with defensive bargain signings last year but not with offense. IOL was a huge failure. We have done nothing there and the best options are off the table. You cant do it all in the draft from the 22nd pick each round... Need OL, TE, WR another RB, Edge , DT

What I have read has teams turning from him, and going after Jenkins...Bengals and Giants, I think...Becton might feel he has earned a big pay day, but nobody biting.
