That is another way to go
You don't want to overpay for Brandon Scherff or Zeitler

Sure they might be better this year -- but the bar last year was so low - maybe you go to the draft, has some growing pains but as the year goes on, they get better.

A lot of teams with money to spend, weaker FA class already thining out....not ideal scenario

lots of G's in FA...... that are much better then what we have....so we can solve that issue and maybe outside WR in FA....we have the money to do that...

the draft is for all positions but at 22 it has to be a difference making starter like Loveland..... we have zero complete TE's on our roster....

Sad part is Loveland is a top 10 talent so he will likely be gone before our pick so we may have to settle for a great DL or maybe Hampton?...but not a WR, OG or C....

WR's can be found anywhere.....but Loveland would make such a huge impact on our offense that he is worth trading up for at least ahead of DEN.... Reid might also be trying to trade up for him to ensure that Mahomes has an elite TE for the next decade....after mahomes, Kelcey is the center of that offense and winning those SB's.....

After the first, we can draft impact RB's....Young DL's.... DB's... a speedy deep threat WR....and depth...

I think Hortiz will play it smart - not overpay. If that means less free agency this year -- get some upgrades but play it safer - keep the cap space for the future, get another draft class - thats could be a measured way to go as well.

Don't want to overpay just to feel like you have to spend the cap. Sign a guy like Zeitler, one year, $8m,. draft somebody and keep your cap liquid for the future so to speak

As far as C goes, I think at this point it’s going to be either Bozeman or Zion. That opens the door for them to sign a couple Gs like Aaron Banks who projects better in a gap scheme. And they can also go after Gs like Becton or Fries. I Then they can draft a guy like C Jake Majors to be their future C a couple 1 or 2 years down the line. I think they are approaching this the right way because the C FA class and C draft class is not as strong as the G FA class.

Zeitler is 34. Coming off another injury plagued season.
Might as well spend the money and get Becton. He played all year at RG and was really good. He’s 25 years old. And in a pinch he could kick out to RT.

Then find another Left Guard like Booker in the draft. And Bozeman should be better with 2 good G’s next to him for a year.

OT Donovan Jackson Ohio St. played Left Guard too. He’s not making it out of the top of the 2nd round. Ratledge is also a Left Guard. Georgia. Probably going to have to go get a high 3rd to get him though.

I think that’s the best way to solve the Oline this year.
Then get a C next year.

I agree on the C position.
Ive been racking my brain trying to find a viable C option and it simply isn’t there.
Dalman and Zabel are zone guys. There just isn’t one in this draft-FA.
So fill in the 2 Guard spots with good players and roll with Bozeman for one more year. The O line will still be vastly improved. Hell, adding 2 good Guards might really help Bozeman and it won’t be such a glaringly bad issue.

You misunderstood. For sure a guy like Becton at RG or certain DL like Osa O or Golston or Odaybingo. I am spending the money When I mention Scherff or Zeitler - those are second options

What I meant - is say a guy like Fries, bit of an injury history - giving him multiple years might not be the way to go. Again, all you can do is y our research and diligence.
I don't expect Hortiz to sign guys just to sign them though -
Jonah Jackson - maybe you take a short term flyer -- but not at 17.5m - negotiate that contract down to like $10m or so

The biggest area of need is IOL and the market this year is pretty average. The Bears will want IOL help too

Edge also is a pretty weak class and you have teams like the Bears, Commanders, Lions, Cardinals - all wanting Edge - among other teams

Patience might not be so bad this go around. Interesting market

Maybe some options will be released!

Hortiz might just have to get creative -- another Elijah Molden trade out there for a team looking to offload a player that might not be a fit for what they want but might work for the Chargers
