Boltx and richpjr with sober takes on the state of the roster. Lots of work to be done by chef hortiz and Mr Jim Harbaugh. And in a year with a lot of cap space but by all accounts a fairly weak FA class and a middle class draft.

Try to pry Myles Garrett loose. Get Poona and JK locked in.

draft some OL and DL beef, RB and TE

Chargers have a ton in FA next two years, monster defense, one of the best staffs in the NFL and a franchise QB in his prime.
Yeah, let’s take a year off and reassess next year…
The Chiefs, per Russini, are looking to trade Thuney. Yes he is 33 years old but they had holes on the OLine - so they might be due for a step back. Kelce might be back but he is not getting younger.

The Chargers have the cash and draft picks - they can make moves to get better. But that might mean bold moves to get better! So Joey Bosa, good-bye. Keenan Allen - nope, not bringing you back. Khalil Mack - we shall see but might not be back. Mike Williams - he might be back but I think a long shot. WR likes NWI or Slayton are probably ahead of him

Davante Adams, Drew Dalman, Mekhi Becton, Odeybingo, Golston, Fries, Mekari -- these might be the new names on the roster

EdIT; Thuney to Bears is a done deal per Jonathan Jones

Thats two new OGs for the Bears

If the Bears can make these moves, so can the Chargers. I get the Bears have a QB on a rookie deal but so the hell what.

Taking the glaring hole of outside vertical X reciever who just so happens to also play anywhere on the field is absolutely crucial prior to this draft. Along with interior O line.

I am doing it -- I am signing Adams, or talking to him
getting a player like Golston or Odeybingo for the Dline if Mack wants too much money, maybe Sweat
going hard after Dalman, Becton and or Fries

The one on Convoy? I was a regular there in '87 - '90. A nice young-ish couple ran the place.

I have read the Saints blogger talk about how the Saints might go after Adams - not happening, he won't go there unless they seriously overpay

Green Bay so he can "mentor the young WRs" -- they are pretty good without him

The Chargers actually make a lot of sense

Granted, the Chiefs just cleared a bunch of cap space by trading Thuney but htats probably to keep Trey Smith

Agree, Adams doesn't want to squander his waning years on a rebuilding team. Players in his position usually aren't motivated by the money anymore-- he already has enough for several lifetimes-- as much as they are by the prospect of getting a ring. Just look at all the former Chargers who went on to get rings with the Patriots.

Same with Khalil Mack-- He may sign with a team other than the Chargers, but whatever team it is, it will be a contender.

One thing about Mack and the Bears rumors - that has changed the last 24 hours with how on paper at least, that Oline has improved. So Mack might think of the Bears in a new light.

I go back and forth on Adams. I do think he is closer to the end than the beginning obviously. But like a deal with Mack, if it is written correctly that gives you some flexibility after a year, he would be a no doubt improvement to the X position this year. More so than a rookie. But i think you can sign Adams and still draft a rookie. Like with Mack, they would still need to draft Edge even if he is back.

I mean it's nothing to be upset or disappointed about.

There's a process to these things, and yeah, they take time.

I think the writing is on the wall for next year, and that's ok. We'll come out stronger, younger, more exciting on the other side.

People forget Harbaugh didn't do SHIT at Michigan until his last couple of years. Takes time.

Look at the Commanders last year - they made a pretty big leap.

Chargers Oline was so bad last year - any improvement in the interior will be a huge positive. The defense, we shall see but probably won't be worse. Get a WR and TE. Offense will be much improved
I think the Chargers - with a smart, calculated, strategic off-season, can get to 13+ wins
