Zion is going into his final year too, his best year was his first, been up and down since

You either have massive respect for Pip, or you think he's a complete idiot. I can't tell which.

IMO he was in the top ten starting RTs in the AFC but the Chargers got a big time upgrade in the draft with Alt, otherwise Pipkins would still be our starting RT. No shame in losing your job to a future HOF player, how many guys around the league would've kept Joe Alt on the bench? Trey will start somewhere next year, don't be surprised if the Broncos and the Chiefs get into a bidding war, he's cheaper and better than the guys those two teams have as starters. The Chiefs went after him big time the last time he was a free agent, but he stayed with the Chargers, dude could have two rings right now.

Yep...apparently the TT effect...poor drafting, then nobody better to unseat him...

Brendan got picked up this offseason by another team, teams know that it takes a while for some of these O-linemen to develop...it's one of those positions that can take more time, that said, I didn't see anything from Jaimes, I think he could be out of the NFL very soon. Maybe a change of scenery is what he needs to get motivated.

IMO Trey is a better fit in a zone run blocking scheme where he can put his athleticism to work. A team like SF or Greenbay might come after him next year in the offseason. They moved him to RG in a gap scheme and he didn't look so hot, that doesn't mean that he can't look much better in a system that better suits his attributes. On the plus side he's been a good teamate, a nice kid, and dedicated to getting better every year. He puts in a lot of work in the offseason training with Rashawn Slater and we didn't hear a peep out of him when they moved him inside while others might've requested a trade and forced a team that was already paper thin to trade one of their starters.

At the end of the day Pipkins was a 3rd round pick, he's already started for the Chargers for what, 4 years? I think we can safely say that he's not a bust. He's being relegated to a back up role this year and we haven't heard any noise from his camp. The guy is a team player and he knows he's going to get paid next offseason. Considering what other middle of the road O-linemen got this offseason in free agency, it will not surprise me in the least if Trey gets a contract in the 3 year 50-60 million dollar range in 2026. He's going to more than triple what he's making now, somewhere in the 17-21 million per season type of a deal. I'm very very confident that he'll be a starting RT somewhere in the NFL next year.

Let's see if Matlock can beat our an actual FB who was a UDFA. Id rather Matlock concentrate on being a DT and beat out Otito which gives us some versatily and we cut another Telesco underwhelming draft pick while he is one who can also play FB if injury occurs.
Matlock is entering year 3 of STs, DL depth, yr 2 starting FB. I don't see Matlock beating Tito if he's healthy and has a good camp.I know Tito is bigger and pretty sure he's stronger.

Klotz has a legit chance to unseat Matlock, from what I've seen he's already a better more instinctive run blocker, if he can pass protect and play STs he should beat Matlock out, these guys want to run the ball so they'll go with the guy that has the edge in run blocking but Klotz has to bring it on STs and show he can pass protect too...
