I simply disagree. Hill is in his prime and a much better deep threat than Tee or even Adams, Hill has just been catching passes by mortal arms attached to significantly inferior QBs.
Jim's culture is enough to corral Hill, he's championship motivated at this stage of his career after making his money on his second contract.
No better available weapon than Hill. Not to mention the dynamic vs KC twice a year, we can start getting in THEIR head.
is it risky? Can it backfire? Sure. But I say be bold and shoot for the moon. A hardnosed, physical offense with an explosive deep threat.

What draft compensation are you giving up?

I just don't want the guy and probably wouldn't give up more than a 5th or later actually

I think the deep threat will come from teh draft. Give me Dalman and Smith -- Smith would be similar dollars as Hill and just hitting his prime

After Saturday I can get on board with this, even though Hill is a terrible person. But yea the play action, taking guys deep to let the TE and McConkey run wild underneath would be great.

I didn't understand the first half of the first sentence. I don't believe they are afraid to bring a good QB2 (e.g. Flacco) because he will push Herbert. others can guess for themselves, thats not on my bingo card.

I'm all for all help available to further improve Herbert - I saw what everyone saw, I just disagree with some on the exact meaning of it all. Every player should always improve. a Flacco could be great for him, idunno. I do know Herbert is and will be the Chargers starting QB, probably for the rest of this decade but definitely 2025.

I get the hype but frankly I don’t want an old WR come off torn wrist ligaments. I also think you will pay for past production vs present. At least with Allen he has a connection with Herbert. If you get a FA WR and that’s probably the wrong thing to do considering the FA price, you get a young player. I heard that there is an outside chance that DK Metcalf could be on the block. Now that’s a player I would go for, or of course Higgins.

Either way you have to go younger than Hill.

I hear you and expect to be a minority in my preference.
I just see a unique opportunity and am ready to embrace the risk and reap the reward.
I love Metcalf BTW, but I will disagree about Hill being too old. He will be too old in 4 years.
I also need to have Hortiz and Jim vet him and he need to understand his role and take a sensible pay cut.

Great point. I don't really think he needs a Qb2 backup to be a mentor, personally. If that backup is a long time former starter just closing out the twilight, at least there is some relevant experience to share. Guys like Heinecke and Chase ... naw.

After watching the playoffs this weekend, I think it's obvious. We had the least talent of all the teams that played. Especially on offense.

The Charger team made it to the playoffs on heart...but up against actual talent heart was not enough.

It was pointed out on X that I saw today, that Goff, Tua and Allen didn't have good games against the Texans either this year.

Goff had 5 INTs against the Texans and 50% completion but they won by 3.

Allen had only 9 completions in 30 att and they lost to Houston..

Tua had 3 INTs and they lost. So their defense has had some good games against some good QBs but Mahomes did ok but only 1TD, but no INTs.

Grab one of the TEs in the first. Edge 2nd. One of the OSU RBs or Sampson in the 3rd. OG/OC in the 4th to push or outright replace Zion.

But we need to litter the field with weapons. Guys that turn that dump off into a 10 yard gain. Move the sticks. Then that becomes a 50 yard mad dash to the house later in the game as the opposing D is tired.

I think Miami would be open to getting him off the books for several reasons. He needs a fresh start and so does Miami. Don't think it would take a lot.
the thing about "deep threats" is that it's a lot harder than people think, every draft there are plenty of fast guys, skilled guys, but never pan out. If were going to spend, I say get the sure thing and suddenly between he and Ladd, we no longer have the "weapons excuse"

For the record, the main reason I want Flacco is I think he would be a good back up QB and Herbert not have to worry about somebody taking the starting job. Like Cousins or Russell Wilson. I want no part of either of those two guys as backs up. I am sure the chiefs will keep him but Carson Wentz fits in this category too of a true backup QB.

Ya he's definitely guilty of scumbag stuff and my take is this, if the NFL allows for it, we should consider it.
I never thought cheating was okay either, but thanks to the Patriots, I learned it's no big deal.
again, just turn the stone and see if Hill is ready to commit to team-focused football.
I suspect he's ready and wants to show KC what they decided to move off of despite them winning after him.
