So you bring back Mack (or spend on Edge), you bring back Ford - instead of spending big on WR - bring in like Golston or Osa or the Colts player Odaybingo and really shore up the front 7. Combined with spend on Center and Right Guard. Part of the thought process is also there seem to be better DT/DE options that are younger than WR. Plus you add the price - if spend 15-20m, prefer it not on a bridge player like most of the WRs.
Draft your X WR and get a veteran. Right now there are so many veteran WRs on the market, and Kirk is about to join - you might get one for pretty reasonable if patient. Does that mean the WR will the perfect X - maybe, maybe not. Will they be a better veteran than Chark - probably.
Then i went further down to Zay Jones who has produced and Noah Brown. I came to the conclusion .....IDK. But thinking thats the type we may end up with on a 1 year deal. Even JuJu.....so i just didnt add one lol. Not liking this WR FA class to commit more than 1 year.
I would take any mentioned here but only for a 1 year deal. Kirk i like, but he might cost some but he is a good reciever if he gets cut and is 28.

Brown is just meh and isnt anything but fast....if he can stay on the field. Williams....Mike Williams? I thought about him but then i thought,..... would i rather have him or Keenan for a season? But id take Mike on a 1 year deal. He did well for us at X with Lombo. Knee should be even better now.

Maybe two of those four positions - but I think the other two - they need the long term answer. Hence, that is why I thought maybe just finding the cheaper WR, but draft one for sure that complements Ladd.
I would rather see Hortiz sign the right long term piece at DT so be it over overpsending for a player that might have 1-2 good years left

I'm not questioning your logic from a desirable player psychological perspective but from possible expensive problematic players that are oft injured and unavailable to perform. I don't even have a problem paying a player $25 mil per year if they can do their job. It's always about the guaranteed money that's on the books for the entire organization. If everything works out then my concerns are moot but we have witnessed on our team as well as others that guaranteed money can be a huge boat anchor that NFL organizations didn't experience let's say 20 years ago. As you say we had two of the best tackles in the NFL last year and yet we still had huge problems with our oline in the middle. If a deal can be done that's palatable for both parties I'm good with that also. Heartburn starts to set in with let's say $116 million in guaranteed money.
