I saw multiple “overthrows” where he decelerated in his route and contributed to if not caused the overthrow. Rice had some chances, not every pass was catchable but enough were and he did not take advantage. When you’re fighting for #6 spot, you have to take advantage, give coaches a reason. He’s not a Rd2 pick, he’s Rd7. No special draft favor will be allotted.

I have no issue with them cutting Rice, Fehoko has played in the league for a few seasons with the Cowboys before he came to the Chargers, he's had time to learn and grown his game, plus he's bigger and faster than Rice, the two are not even close right now, Simi is actually a guy you can count on to come in and contribute right now if injuries hit, he has rapport with Herbert too, Simi was one of the guys hanging out with Herbert at that concert earlier this year and they've been working on their timing for two offseasons now...He reminds me of Malcolm Floyd a bit but with even better speed...I liked Fehoko coming out of Stanford, I thought the Chargers might draft him as I believe that they brought him in for workout and they have for a long time liked the bigger WRs...Originally posted by dmac_bolt View Post

I think the raw talent and desire to succeed is there with Rice. He just needs time to develop. A few weeks of training camp and a limited number of preseason snaps with a subpar QB is not enough to develop him. Some have said he's a lock to make the roster for his special teams contributions. I don't know about that.Originally posted by Fouts2herbert View Post
I know I didn't watch the practices but haven't been impressed with Rice in the games, contested catches is a zero, positioning and anticipation is a zero, route running I haven't broken down his plays so can't say, blocking looked avg at best, not sure what the controversy is other than he's Jerry Rice's son? from what I've seen, which is just the preseason games, I think that if his name was anything other than Rice he'd be on the chopping block...

There has been buzz about Rice being a steal in the draft in the national media, so perhaps we see him make the 53 initially to avoid getting poached? IDK, some of that could just be his name recognition out there in the public consciousness, the football people basically passed on drafting him earlier this year...Originally posted by Velo View Post

there is zero chance of losing Jefferson even if they cut him, he only wants to play for the Chargers, as a ten year vet he will not be subject to waivers so he'll immediately sign onto our practices squad and he'll not be signing with anyone else once on our PS either...he'll be a charger in 2024 even if he's cut no need to use a roster spot on him...Originally posted by jamrock View Post
Jefferson had the kind of game we've been expecting g from Derwin"The author assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in the content of this post. Unless he has serious financial problems, he can always retire if cut .... that's a more likely option.Originally posted by Fouts2herbert View Post

Jefferson will be chager even if he gets cut, he's not subject to waivers and I don't think he can be poached from the PS as he's a ten year vet, also he has plans to join Harbaugh's coaching staff in 2025...he'll be around even if they cut him...Originally posted by Velo View Post

Naw, he didnt show any other GMs a thing this preseason. There will be better/more ready WRs cut by other teams.Originally posted by Velo View Post
I agree, but there is a chance of losing him to another team if he is cut.
Jefferson will be on the 53. I cannot see him wanting to be on a PS, personally. But I don’t know him, ???
