There is a young edge pass rusher on the roster, Kyle Kennard.

For veteran depth? Who would you rather have, Bosa or Dupree?

      Neither - Clowney

Clowney or Bosa would just be replacing Dupree - he is not good. Raising the floor
With the hope the draft pick plays more than a Clowney or Bosa.

At this point, if Rickey is right about Eagles and Pats agreeing 2+ months away - maybe Hortiz should get with Juaun Jennings and say "on the day the comp pick period ends, we have a good deal for you. If you want to wait, its yours.'' no comp pick lost.
This ^^^^ There are still free agents out there... and it doesn't have to be WR even.
CB's, safeties, DT's are just a few needs... and a decent supply of free agent candidates still left.

Exersize: I have my eyes on a DT (4th round) and a WR that is slotted late 1st or early 2nd round.
If I trade my 2nd round pick and 4th round pick (ala trade up for Ladd McConkey fame) to snag said WR... I can do that.
Why? Because the GM saved enough post-draft cap to sign a quality free agent DT... and allowed us to use the 4th rounder in the trade-up.

There are a million advantages to having post-draft cap space. Not every free agent signing has to be a Pro Bowler.

          Run the ball
          Play great defense

Clownman would be OK with me, they just need to move on from Dupree.

I don't think it really matters who we prefer... Dupree already got his roster bonus. He's staying.
I'd rather draft Oweh's replacement this draft (Mesidor) and worry about depth and/or replacing Dupree next draft.
How do we know that Kennard wasn't Dupree's eventual replacement...?

Hortiz just continues to make curious decisions - picking up that option was just stupid.
                He was terrible last year

what a waste of effing money?

His offseason grade right now is a D --it can improve but that is just stupid to pick up that option. He wasn't that good

ESPN graded their best free agent signings today. They seemed to like the free agent lineman people on TPB are saying were not worth Hortiz signing.

                    Neither.

I think the NFL wants Joey to sign with SF and play with Nick. That would put the most butts in the seats.

I was thinking since Bosa has not signed anywhere, he would be a reasonable edge player to bring back and have fill the Dupree role. Bringing back a Charger son at a reduced cost like we did with Keenan. But then I also read how his play against the run last season was poor and he 'really tailed off' late in the year and 'hurt the Bills in the playoffs'. I did not observe that but that is what was written by the free agency experts.
Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

I don't think the owners give a shit about Joey

San Francisco can have Joeys Bosa --

As for Dupree -- I am just shaking my head at that one. He wasn't good. Doesn't have any burst left. Not the same player.
I don't care if he is getting paid "only" $3.5m -- not moving the needle forward on defense Joe. - to this point. Like for me , I think with $100m of cap space you can improve from Perryman and Dupree. Or even Jefferson.
