One thing interesting about this guy is how he's built, he's build more like a football player than a basketball player, he's got a big waist, butt, and thighs...AND his legs are thick all the way thru, he doesn't look like a a basketball player. I suppose it doesn't hurt to bring him in and see what he can do...
send him to Manywheather...

Interesting signing...try him out at TE also...could be Gates 2.0...
Something I just realized ... The Chargers had 65 rostered players, based on the transactions they have reported on their website. They drafted nine players (none yet under contract, of course) and announced that they had agreed to terms with 18 undrafted free agents. That's 92 players, or two more than allowed. So I went through the roster on the Chargers' website, and six of last year's practice squad players--who the Chargers announced on Jan 13 had been signed to reserve/future contracts for the 2025-2026 league year--are not listed, giving them only 59 players included in the roster on the website. The missing players are:
WR Jaylen Johnson
TE McCallan Castles
Edge Tre'Mon Morris-Brash
Edge Caleb Murphy
LB Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste
S Kendall Williamson
So did the Chargers let them go, or is the roster on the website incomplete?
Overall not the most exciting draft for the Chargers but they address almost all of the major needs I listed. The only question mark is LG or Center. I guess that’s what FA was for. If Zion is better at Center, then we’ll hope that whoever wins the LG position if he moves can hold it down competently. And if Andre James wins the Center position instead, Zion can just stay at LG (inconsistency and all).
Maybe I'm just high off of post-draft hopium, but I think the fact that we didn't go iOL early is telling about how comfortable Roman is with Zion.
he's a good run blocker and with a solid C will likely get better in only his 2nd season in the system.
OL talent is too valuable to let walk, we have the cap to perhaps be a bit ******* in our spending.
I lean towards picking up the option.
same with Pipkins, I let him ride his contract unless a definitive cheaper upgrade is found with Branson Taylor or the UDFA.
secure the best OL talent even if it means overpaying a few guys, Herbert's health is worth it.

Just to follow up, both OTC and Spotrac list the same 65 players as my list does, including these six, so I am going to assume that they are still on the team. I forgot that Jordan Petaia is an IPP player and doesn't count against the roster limit, but they will still be one player over if they go through with all these additions. So someone will have to go.
I think the Chargers did a hell of a job in FA, draft and UDFA's.... at lease on paper.... we addressed many posiitons of need and the team looks vastly improved on paper...
Herbert now has some real weapons with speed.... defense has big additions too.... cant wait till camp and pre season start.....
I love it all...Taylor is the one underwhelming pick....but its 6th round and the Chargers brain trust knows the trenches better than i do
I was hoping for Miles Frazier in the 5th but I'm fine taking a wait and see approach for Taylor before writing the pick off. In the short clip of highlights I've seen of him is that he has a pretty good movement skills for a big guy and can get real movement in the run game imo. It's a developmental pick and for a 6th that's pretty common.
