Anyone who has read about Amerigo Vespucci knows that he was born into a rich family and was granted his positions in life based on who he was... rather than his capabilities. His records of his "discoveries" were sparse and often forgeries and/or fabrications. Ralph Waldo Emerson called him a "thief" and a "pickle dealer".

Upon further review... the "Gulf of America" seems like the perfect name.
he was no Vasco Da Gama, I suppose. i had no idea Ralph was as passionate about him as you report, whoa. don't get much lower than that.

Pickle Dealer is the name of my new band.

I think concessions were made regards naming rights to salve their wounded egos.
          This makes zero sense.

              1. Seems like it touches more US land now, but I didn't measure it. Mexico never "surrounded" it, there was no Mexico nor a single culture or civilization in what is now Mexico prior to Spanish colonization and independence. There were many separate indigenous regions, they were not unified under a single name.
              2. The Americas are multiple continents - does Central America count, is it 2 or 3? I have trouble counting Central America as its own continent but its neither North A nor South A so ... lets call it 3 (its really 2)
              3. Splitting up BC into Norte and and Sur was a *******al administrative division by the PRI in the 1930's, not a geographical one. so you recognize PRI geographical renaming revisions from the 1930s but not USA's existence since 1776? Its all one baja to me, you can subdivide and name each piece as you prefer.
              4. I still don't care, I laugh at those who do care or think I should.
you seem angry about Gulf of America

edit: I missed one. I'm flattered for them to retain Gulf of Cali, but I offer them the choice to instead utilize the now-available Gulf of Mexico moniker. Only the western half is California, the eastern side is mainland mexico. The could do Gulf of Mexicali, but that'll confuse people with that shithole town south of Calimex.

Venturing on *******al here guys. Lets just not do that. The Gulf stuff will be contested by left vs right. No idea where to begin with deleting comments. So how about you do me a solid and just move past the name of the gulf. Because i can already tell who is on either side of it. And im getting warnings from members that dont want it to go there.

                  Thanks.

Chargers extended Bud Dupree - interesting

They sure didn't need the cap space this year - unless they want a bit more cash for ....... Trey Hendrickson

                        Very interesting.
I definitely didn't have this move on my bingo card.
