I suggested in another thread that we go heavier on short passes to Najee and Hamp in the flats, and ditch most of the run blocking until we can do better...Originally posted by CanadianBoltFan View Post
Do you understand how bad of a blocking stat 0.2 yards before contact is by an offensive line? This line is curently opening up nothing in the run game.
How many tackles do you expect an RB to break when he is getting hit right away?
if you have been watching, you will have seen Hampton get hit immediately but break tackles and power his way on 4th down conversions on will and power alone. In college he averaged a crazy 4+ yards after contact. This is a strength of Hampton's game but you are being completely unrealistic to try to pound your point into the ground.

Ekeler made a career of turning Rivers and Herberts short passes into first downs.
I’m shocked we haven’t seen it with Omarion considering how much it was part of the Chargers offensive success in the past. Didn’t see it much last year either.

Agreed. its a great way to get a running back going. Give him the ball in space and let him use his burst before he is hit in the backfieldOriginally posted by Topcat View Post

Also how may huge explosive plays on catches Hampton had in college. This is not a one dimensional back, very well roundedOriginally posted by Riverwalk View Post

We are taking full advantage of Herbert's arm and leg talent and our perfect fit WRs. Najee has a better feel for the NFL pace ATM.
I do not understand a lot of these comments. We are successful.
Matt Harmon @ Reception Perception commented today regarding the fact that there is not a good fit in AZ for Kyler Murray (deficient in passing over the middle) combined with 4th overall pick Marvin Harrison Jr, who loves to go over the middle. The Texans are not using Nico Collins correctly, either.
We should be very happy with our developing smooth operation. QJ is going to end up leading the NFL on TDs. Stack Ladd n Slayer on that. Screw TE passes. Block. Ditto RB swing passes. Gimme pass pro, RBs. Learn to like it.

I have thought about that as well but I still land on Hampton then Harris. I just like the idea of Hampton early because he has the chance to break one early. I would rather have that ability early rather than late. Also, you know Harris is good for 4 to 5 yards per carry. He is going to go in a straight line see is almost always going to get positive yards. I would rather have that consistency late in the game especially when you are trying to close out the game.Originally posted by Velo View Post
I'd give Najee the majority of carries at the beginning of the game. He has more experience, he can deliver punishment. I'd use Hampton later in the game after the defense is gassed from tackling Najee. Hampton's fresh legs would be at their most devastating IMO.1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). Jenkins (OG- 12m)

I wouldn't call him a bust but there is one thing Hampton is excelling over Jeanty and that is pass pro. Jeanty has been really bad at pass pro. Hampton looks like a vet out there picking up the right blitzer.Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post
