Simmons is athletic but not particularly instinctive.

An athletic, instinctive, coverage linebacker who can hold up vs the run is high on my wishlist for next year (unicorn).

IMV, Simmons is a bit redundant vs Colston, although he would be able to suit up immediately.

We will need a very high draft pick on an edge rusher to take Mack's place when he is done:Screenshot 2025-10-29 at 10.59.18 PM.png

Pretty much. I seem to remember touting him in the 2020 Draft, with visions of us playing "modern defensive football". A man who could do it all. A man without a specific position.

          We drafted Justin Herbert.

Yeah I remember all the Simmons draft talk. He was a beast in college

I believe Khalil will be back at a cap friendly figure. This upcoming draft is deep at EDGE.

Re free agent OGs, I would sign Zion as him and Alt are my powerful and durable left side. Alijah Vera Tucker is the only other FA of interest IMV, the injury caveat involved.
Yes, Khalil Mack was gift given. I'd take him back in a second. However, even with him, we need help/depth.

I believe there are several free agent OG's worth checking out. I was a big fan of Vera-Tucker. But he has been banged up.
I would do backflips if we could get Brady Christensen or Ed Ingram. If we re-sign Zion... I'm good.
                Protect the QB
                Run the ball
                Play great defense

Trade Slater post June 2026 and it's only 5.8mil dead money and 18mil savings.

Browns trading Garrett post June 2026 and it's a 15.5 dead money and 8mil savings.

Both players have almost identical cap number hits for next 3 years 2026,27,28.

Trade Update. Post June 2026 Trade.
R.Slater OT, Q.Johnston WR, 2027 1st Rd , 2028 1st Rd. to Browns for M.Garrett DE because he again demands a trade. And the math works very nicely in a post June trade. Browns get a franchise Left Tackle and starting WR plus two additional 1st Rd picks. Trade would not go through unless Slater passes the physical, so Browns can feel comfortable he is ready to play again.

Chargers have their franchise LT with Joe Alt.
They need a franchise DE to replace Mack. And they get the best guy possible to replace him with Garrett.

Browns could be in the market for LT as their current starter Robinson who was acquired with a late Rd pick swap is on the final year of his deal and will be a free agent after this year. So they do have an important roster spot at LT to address in the off season.

Hortiz could make a call and the offer way ahead of the post June timeframe, could even begin the talks pre draft and just not execute the deal until post June so both teams avoid the big dead money hits.

                    Make it happen Hortiz. LFG!!!!
Who has it better than us?

Don't think this claim holds up under sunshine (suspect it's pure nonsense), but I'm not going to dig into it now.

Rashawn * see no reason to move Alt off of LT, and don't think it's that big of a deal if Slater moves to the right side.... there are plenty of quality LDEs in the League
Henley * it's a papa thing.... the race thing is real, and his dad is in a heapa hot water and then some.... got to be taxing, and prolly the reason for his drop off
Khalil * if the Rams come calling, could easily see him moving 'cross town
Teair/Jamaree * w/Tart 'n Caldwell not sure how anyone laments our IDL talent ??
Oweh * think he gets re signed, albeit do like the stoutness of Uiagalelei in the draft, and as he might pair well with/Odafe

and the guys that I think we'll have to replace, in addition to Mack, are....

Najee, Conklin, Perryman, St. Juste, Trey Lance, Del'Shawn Phillips, Deculus, and w/RB & LB the two most important replacements outta that list, save for ED of course.

and know there'd be groans aplenty if so, and.... won't be surprised if the line's pretty much set going forward w/Joe, Zion, Boze, Mekhi & Slater, along w/Pips possibly getting re signed, along w/Jamaree, Andre James & maybe even Zion (could we still yet move him to the OC ?), and w/a backup/developmental center the only draft investment we make ??

and think FA will prolly take care of RB, TE, LB, CB and QB ?? and that's not to say that we wouldn't add to the middle three there subsequently in the draft....

also having just the five picks is very unJoe, and think the two most likely players to get moved would be the either or the both of QJ and/or Trey Lance (they can just call Heinicke)
LB CJ Allen, LT Caleb Lomu, OC Parker Brailsford, RB Demond Claiborne, TE Justin Joly, NT Dontay Corleone, OC Bryce Foster, CB Josh Moten, LB Eric Gentry

I agree with pretty much most of this beachcomber.

It is early but the draft is deep at EDGE. There will be ample IOL pickin's midrounds

                          My guess is
                          BPA rd 1.
                          EDGE rd 2.
                          IOL rd 3 .

IMHO we need to end up with adequate, sufficient OL + defensive boosts via free agency.
