If I'm doing the math right, Brown's cap hit will be about $14.8 million if he's traded because Philly eats the portion of the prorated signing bonus. If you include Q in a trade for him, that saves another $2.7 million off the cap. So you're looking at around a $12 million cap hit for AJ Brown. I'd imagine Pierce will sign for about twice that much and count against the comp pick formula. Pierce won't cost a premium pick, though. However, half the benefit of a draft pick is the cap savings. If you are saving $12 M a year on the cap for a superior player, you can spend that money elsewhere to make up for the lost pick.
