Same. I remember those glowing reports a year ago too.Originally posted by Rugger05 View PostI hope QJ proves everyone wrong this season BUT I remember all the glowing reports about him this time last year. It helps to have a competent coaching staff so I do expect him to approve a lot this season.

And yet, there were times where he made tough catches and tracked the ball well.Originally posted by jamrock View Post
Can't have an honest assessment of QJ without mentioning his hands. That was the knock on him coming out and it proved out in the season. Ball tracking and hands.
So how much of that is bad hands... how much of that is concentration or processing...?
Rookie WR's have a lot to process. Let's have an honest assessment after Year 2... once he has a feel for the pace and complexity of the NFL playbook.Protect the QB
Run the ball
Play great defense

QJ doesn't have to be 'The Guy', and he has the advantage of having an elite QB working with him.Originally posted by Boltnut View Post

I'd say the odds are in favor of QJ getting things figured out.

I'll now predict QJ will be the breakout star of TC. The team is gonna coach him up.Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
Let’s win one for Mack.

Is it true the Chargers practice at like 5 or 6 o'clock in the evening? I just notice that there is not much info from Chargers beat reporters who attend practice until early evening.
And yes, I am factoring in the 2 hour time difference from where I am.

Is former San Francisco 49ers lineman Mike Iupati joining the Los Angeles Chargers?

Former San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Mike Iupati was spotted at the first day of Chargers training camp.
There is a brief exchange between head coach Jim Harbaugh, Iupati, and other members of the Chargers' coaching staff on the team's latest mic'd up video. There has been no announcement regarding Iupati coaching or interning with the team in any capacity; however, it would not be a shock given the team's recent hirings of former players.
Harbaugh hired former 49ers linebacker Navorro Bowman, former 49ers and Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman and fullback Will Tukuafu, and former Chargers center Nick Hardwick to round out the coaching staff. Iupati, if brought on, would likely be a summer intern working with Hardwick and offensive line coach Mike Devlin. In 2021, former Chicago Bears linebacker John Timu joined the Chargers under the Alex G. Spanos Coaching Fellowship. He worked his way up the ranks in 2022 and 2023, ultimately securing a role as an assistant defensive line coach before the team parted ways with its staff.
Iupati brings 11 years of NFL experience, two All-Pro nominations, and four Pro-Bowl nominations to the table. 8,496 left guard blocking snaps across three different teams would be a tremendous wealth of experience for starter Zion Johnson to pull and learn from. Iupati's familiarity with offensive coordinator Greg Roman's system would also help streamline the process for the offensive linemen.
Players and former coaches visit training camps all the time, but Iupati's visit may not be just a one-time thing. Keep an eye on the sidelines as more training camp days unfold.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
Let’s win one for Mack.
