The problem with this approach is we can avoid slightly overpaying a player in a position of need, save all our cap money and then...have our choice of the tier 3 and 4 players to sign.Originally posted by Cdn Bolt View PostSad they lost Ford but $10M/yr may have been just a little on the overpriced side. They must have a few others in mind more affordable to them. In Hortiz we trust.

Hortiz proved last year he could find quality with a shoe string budget. Seems to reason he should be able to do more with an increased budget but really hoping to see some needle moving signings soon. I don't think high price splash free agents are in his DNA which I am just fine with. However we have something like 7-8 day 3 picks. There is no way all of those players can make the team so I hope he's willing to bundle some of them to move up for impact players we need.

We had 26 free agents and resigned 3 of them. We may need all of those picks just to fill out the roster.Originally posted by el_jefe999 View PostHortiz proved last year he could find quality with a shoe string budget. I appreciate also that Joe doesnt spend foolishly and make massive mistakes. However the team needs upgrades to really contend and they cant all come from the draft. So far a very ************ approach to utiilzing the leagues second most cap space.Originally posted by el_jefe999 View PostHortiz proved last year he could find quality with a shoe string budget. This recipe sounds like the perfect strategy to be a one and done playoff team, and get blown out by teams like Texas in the playoffs. What's next not making the playoffs or being blown out by Pit and being one and done again?Originally posted by richpjr View Post

Ford was solid, however this is the draft to get solid DT's! Take the money you were thinking about paying Ford, and pay OG-Fries! Unless his leg injury was too extreme.Originally posted by Cdn Bolt View PostSad they lost Ford but $10M/yr may have been just a little on the overpriced side. They'll never admit it, but I do think they looked at this FA class and said no thanks.Originally posted by CanadianBoltFan View Post

They are liking saving this money for 2026 or 2027 to try to find a player or two that might put us over the edge.
This year is shaping up to be a youth movement - some growing pains to be sure, but the future is being built. Adjust expectations accordingly.ESPN Screename: GoBolts02
