Why would he take the Raiders job? It wouldn't be a good fit for him, IMHO. That organization has been a mess the last several years. My final Mock:
1) Woods, Peter- DT/Clemson
2) Pregnon, Emmanuel- OG/Oregon
3) Moore, Derrick- EDGE/Michigan
4) Demmings, Charlie- CB/S. F. Austin
6) Klein, Marlin- TE/Michigan

Look at the playoffs. Dominating defenses are the common denominator.Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post
Chargers have great cap flexibility -- as not only are they currently 3rd in cap space now ($80m after signing players to futures deals, but Tuli and Daiyan got 4th year PPP increases) - they are also top 6 in 2027.
I just did some math
$80m now but release Becton, Boze, Dupree and Dissly gets them to about $104 but take away $24m for draft class, IR, practice squad. So that leave $80m
Tuli: extend him so that increases his cap number from $5 to $12 just to add a bit to this year - so $7m to the cap
Hand: $5m cap hit
Tartt: $7m
Oweh: $12m
Linderbaum or McGovern: $15m
Net: Basically $34left
Here is where it gets interesting
Do the Chargers pay for Mack back at like $12-15m and go cheaper at OG in the $7-10m
or
Do you spend more on a David Edwards and really lock down that OL and go cheaper for Mack or that Edge position
Now if Mack takes less, they can do both
Today, and it is the heat of the moment and I am done not having a good OLine - I think if I could get Edwards or an OG better than Zion, I do it.
The rest of the positions - I think they have the cap space for back up QB, TE, LB - especially if they rework Derwin and get about 8-10m of cap space.
No reason the Chargers cannot be aggressive this offseason. I am probably extending Derwin and going balls to the wall for the McGovern/Edwards combo at C/LG
I’m opposed to this thinking we have to throw all our cap space at the OL for the offense to be potent. A quick strike offensive scheme designed by a bright OC like McDaniels is more important, IMO.
Continue to upgrade the defense with more Edge and DL talent. Trenches. That’s just as important as the IOL. Injuries to Slater, Alt, and a piss poor OC were the biggest problem with the OL last year.
Sure, I agree Bozeman, Becton, Penning, Deculus need to be replaced, but these guys were all the worst last year. Zion is fine and middle of the pack IOL replacements are all that’s needed with a smarter offensive scheme.

You guys can play around with OTC's cap calculator...Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

Lately, the only cut I've made is the Big Lazy (Becton).
Lately, I've re-signed Oweh ($17m)... but haven't re-signed Khalil Mack.
I've brought back the DT's Tart ($7m) and Hand ($4m)...
The DB's St.-Juste ($2m) and Leonard ($2m)
The ERFA RB's Vidal and Patterson.
And then signed McGovern ($18m) and Edwards ($18m).
Cut most of those futures players... and I have 49 on my roster... with $30m left over.
BTW... I don't re-sign Keenan.Protect the QB
Run the ball
Play great defense

Chance to be a HC, huge salary increase, #1 pick in the draft, nowhere to go but up, huge fan base, leave snakebite franchise, Coach Maxx and they have Bowers and JeantyOriginally posted by Chargers8491 View Post

They missed a FG, they should have won….Originally posted by dmac_bolt View Post
Because he’d miss the Raven’s unsurpassed playoff history since he has been there so much? You know that is why Harbaugh was fired, right? Linderbaum was 12 the last time the Ravens won the SB.
We can’t throw stones when we live in a glass house. I trust Herbert in Regular season but in PO he seems to be a different guy. Our Defense was the reason we beat Jacksonville in first half.
im sure Linderbaum is aware and I hope he does come to us…but a lot can happen.

We also have an expensive QB I think Stafford is @ 40 million. Everyone else is way lower in the PO.
the future is keep QB at a lower pay if they want to consistently go to PO

Stafford is making $47,468,556 this year according to spotrac. That is more than Herbert made this year or will make next year. In 2027 he will exceed that.Originally posted by Florida fan View PostWe also have an expensive QB I think Stafford is @ 40 million. Everyone else is way lower in the PO.

Flores is interviewing with the Steelers. QB or not, thats a better spot for him than Las Vegas.Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post
I would agree with this. The Browns play in the Factory of Sadness for a reason. The Raiders - well they are the Raiders and the Cardinals might be the worst opening because of the owner. So you are right, if those two teams offer him a job - I think he would be smart to take. Some of these other teams, umm, not so sure
Dolphins - probably going Hafley
Titans - for some reason probably Nagy but maybe they get smart and pick Saleh if the choices are really Nagy, Anarumo and Saleh
Ravens, Steelers and 5 and 6
That leaves the dregs of Browns, CArdinals and Raiders
Raiders pick Flores so they take Daboll
Browns Udinski
Cardinals - Vance Joseph
Mike McDaniel - come on down!!!

Agree about defenses and playoffs. I trust Hortiz to manage cap space. I hope for a quality vet C and while I like last year's DL, I Hope for another IDL like Tart, or better. We don't need absolute stars at Edge if the IDL is sucking up blockers. The new OC and his OL coach should have some input on OL depth.Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post

I still think these guys getting paid that much are going to have a hard time….Herberts first two years were his best. Maybe it’s because we had better WR group? Now we have to spend a fortune to protect a guy who has not proven anything in the PO. I hope next year changes for the better but he will only get more expensive.Originally posted by richpjr View Post

I was thinking about this the other day. Mack has been an amazing Charger BUT I cannot see them brining him back for 15m+ next season. Oweh is a priority over him and you bring up a good point of that money might be better allocated somewhere else. Does Tuli get extended or do they let him playout the final year of his contract and just see his price tag continue to go up. Oweh and Tuli is a great edge room and maybe Kennard takes an Jstin Eboigbe leap next season (still can't believe Eboigbe was third on the team in sacks with 6)Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

Start fresh with the #1 pick Mendoza...draw up schemes for Jeanty and Bowers....lots of cap space
That visit worries me a little too
