Can't get a hit, unless you swing. Seems unlikely to me that Luis would provide any actual help THIS season, but if he's the right material to be QB2 for the duration of Herb's career as of 2025?!? Hallelujah!

Right now-- early August-- DOES seem like a good time to glean whatever value you can from the UFL, the USFL, and whatever other minor league football outfits exist out there. Because a lot of teams- by early August-- are absolutely set at particular positions, and even if they really liked a specific player from the UFL (et al), they're no longer looking to add candidates at the position *this* particular player plays.

That means that Hortiz likely faced less competition for a QB candidate NOW-- again, early August-- than he'd face four months earlier, or 3 weeks later. Meaning, Non-Trader Joe acquires a QB without having to trade, and so gets a guy he wants, and fills a need, without having to surrender any draft capital.

Pretty shrewd. Although kind of rude of Hortiz to flip Topcat the bird so vehemently.

Everybody's healthy. Gus and JK, Spiller, Patterson, Dotson, Vidal all show up in pics and video. Not a lot of commentary. I'm looking forward to their getting some reps vs Sea and staying healthy.

It's time for that O to give us a taste of what downhill run blocking looks like.

Was there an "Otay Mesa HS" in your day ?

I barely remember Castle Park and Bonita Vista.

                          Editorial Director
The Chargers first unofficial depth chart of 2024 has been unveiled.

The Bolts open preseason play by hosting the Seahawks on Saturday at SoFi Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. Unofficial depth charts are league-mandated before a team's first preseason game.

For reference, the Chargers offense is listed in "11 personnel" with a running back, tight end and three wide receivers along with a quarterback and the offensive line.

The Bolts defense, meanwhile, features a 3-4 setup with three down linemen, two edge rushers, two inside linebackers, two cornerbacks and two safeties.

Here's a look at the Chargers unofficial depth chart with starters followed by backups listed in order as they appear. OFFENSE
