Rivers had a great season and the Chargers' offense was so good in 2018 when there were 3 bonafide studs at WR. KA, MW and TyWill might've been the best trio of WRs that season. Hopefully they can build a dominant WR corps out of the pieces they have now at WR for Herbert.Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post
Tyrell had a 1.51 10 yard split, Simi had a 1.59 and Tyrell had a 6.74 three cone which I read was the fastest of that WR class.
We really couldnt keep Tyrell as i recall....but I was hoping to.
His first NFL catch...or TD I believe was that 80 yard torch job from Rivers.

Interesting data, courtesy of PFF:
Brenden Rice
- 40 run block snaps, 80.4 grade (including a 90.3 grade vs Cowboys). He was the best blocker on the team among WRs.
- 15 special teams snaps, 64.4 grade
Simi Fehoko
- 22 run block snaps, 70.4 grade
- 19 special teams snaps, 76.4 grade
- 36 special teams snaps in 2023, 88.5 grade
I left off receiving grades because … Stick.
Note: PFF only gives a single grade for all areas of special teams (kick & punt return, kick & punt coverage, assuming FGs are excluded). Fehoko was used fairly evenly in all 4 phases, while Rice had 9 of his 15 snaps on the kick return unit.
Both appear to be solid run blockers with Rice gaining the superior grade (caveat: small sample sizes). Fehoko is a Core 4 special teamer and did very well for the team last year. But it appears Rice has some potential there as well. Wouldn’t be mad if they kept both.

You are preaching to the choir with me bro. I think there is justification for rostering 7 WR and including Rice, because after jettisoning the team's top 2 WRs in the off-season, they have to rebuild the WR corps and need to figure out what they have in these young players, and the only way to figure that out is to roster a bunch of them and give them real game snaps with Herbert. That said, I will be shocked (pleasantly so) if they roster 7 WRs, even to start the season. NFL teams just don't carry that many WRs and Harbaugh/Hortiz just aren't that into WRs. Personally, I think it makes sense to just carry 3 RB in Edwards, Dobbins and Vidal and free up a roster spot for that 7th WR. But I doubt that is what they will do.Originally posted by CanadianBoltFan View Post
Fehoko has eanred a spot but the staff really like Rice and had him rated higher in the draft. Rice hasnt looked good with the ineptness of Stick but who other than Fehoko has? Rice has looked good in practise with Herbert and first team offence which the coaches will note and he is a longer term view.
For these reasons I would keep 7 WRs on the initial 53 and keep 3 RBs. Patterson is a bit of a journeyman who I think clears to the PS no problem. There will be better RBs cut around the league. I dont think you can assure Rice clears to the PS.

I don't see only 3 rbs, especially given the injury history of one of those rbs and the age of another.Originally posted by CanadianBoltFan View Post

Bad situation with only 1 rb available after the 1rst half, and that rb needs a blow,
when you want to pound the rock or run out the clock.

Haven’t you been watching? We’re good and we’ll just run a olineman or DT out there been seeing it in the preseason.Originally posted by powderblueboy View Post

I would just hate to lose Rice to another team so early. He blocks his ass off, is physical, and played well in practise when he had a real QB throwing him the ball.
