I wonder if Maxx going to BALT, Oweh’s offers have cooled a bit and he’d rather play for the Chargers instead of a total crap team?

I don’t understand how the two are related or Maxx trade changes anything. Maxx was on a roster 2 days ago, he’s on a roster today. Net Edge league status unchanged. BAL gave Oweh away for a 5th 5 months ago, they didn’t appreciate or utilize his abilities and wanted to force him into a big edge contain role he can’t play. I didn’t see them as a top contender for him before Maxx?

In general the LAC-BAL nexus theories that run on TPB and have since Joe got here seem a bit too strong for me, although he has worked hard to prove me wrong lol so I could be 180deg off course on it.

My favorite TE for the Chargers was the 5th one listed. Goedert - next. Jonnu - no. Otton - expensive. Kolar at 4-5m per year seems ideal - a true blocking TE that might have untapped upside as a receiver.
Kolar is a Hortiz type signing.

And the fact that BALT new HC Minter, who wanted Oweh, then took him and made him into a 10.5 sacks in 13 games player doesn't factor into that at all? Oweh might not want to play for a crap team. He may have wanted to go back to BALT and play for Minter and when that plan dried up he realized these other offers might not be ideal for his overall success even if he made 2 more mil a year. That’s all Im saying.

But what is true is that the Chargers are interested in adding a WR...particularly an X receiver. Way too much smoke including sources like ESPN.

If that happens QJ is traded in short order. He doesn't seem to be in their future plans. There is a scenario he plays in LA this year but it seems the Chargers are looking to do something at WR... be it trade, FA or draft

The Raiders now have a need for an edge rusher, and they are stupid enough to throw money at a defensive player, when they should be building around their rookie QB with free agent signings and in the draft,
addressing the defense later.

I have the Chargers with $57m of NET cap space - so that means dollars accounted for draft class, inseason slush fund and practice squad. Granted, the buying power of that number is even higher

Dupree is also still on the roster. He would be another $4m of cap space. Hortiz has PLENTY of money to still do things

Edge - -whether that is Oweh at the right price or a player who might make a little bit less - but with Mack and Tuli, that 3rd Edge rusher is needed over Dupree and ahead of Kennard. Oweh at 18-20 - fine. Oweh at 22-25 -- no flipping way Joe - don't do it. The magic was Tuli + Mack allowed Oweh to be the player he was. Find another Oweh if need be

LG: The world is Hortiz oyster on this one,. Money Smith wants to throw an incentive laden deal at AVT. I kind of like Seumalo on a short term deal unless Zion truly is closer to McGovern money. Elgton Jenkins and Ben Powers might get released - so maybe that is an option for the other guard position. Meaning one more expensive player, Zion and one cheaper vet option. Just to be safe heading into the draft

I don't think Hortiz should be too quick to sign a few positions:

DL: I know Hand was solid last year but Rankins is out there, maybe Jonathan Allen. Just take a second look around

Back Up QB: Geno Smith can't find a job - maybe he takes $4m plus incentives. I would trust him more than Lance

CB: St. Juste - see what his market is, maybe he gets pricey like Fulton, find another reclamation project for cheap that could possibly turn into a comp pick. Fulton almost did.

LB: there is going to be good value out there for better players than Denzel Perryman

St Juste had a pretty good year for us. His grade and QB rating against was better than Hart.....and Still for that matter and Still was better than Hart. Id take him back on the cheap and hope he can do it again.

Guard is a more important position. Behkton was pretty bad and often injured and got a 2 year deal worth over $20 million.

Would you rather have Behkton or AVT?

Hortiz coughing up a 1rst (and a 2nd) for a disgruntled, aging prima Donna is as likely as Dean Spanos tossing his wife and shacking up with Madison Beer.

I am not ruling them out - just unlikely in an equal fashion.
