If you go past a few defenders here and read the room on the general Charger fan base, you will see that the majority of Charger fans are not happy...in fact many are far more pissed than anyone here. All you have to do is check out Charger social media. Defending Hortiz at all costs is the clear minority.

Most fans understand Hortiz and his Raven way of doing things. But there are times when you have to be a little flexible...like when one glaring weakness sabotages your entire team, you cannot even be competitive in the playoffs...you gave up 60 sacks and got your franchise QB hit 140 times

These guys are not even putting in offers for 12 million dollar guards. It is the same Hortiz formula that has failed on IOL miserably in his first 2 years. Is 26 years in Baltimore so entrenched into him that he cannot think on his feet and try a different approach?

If this line is a disaster for the 3rd year, changes will have be made and it will not be Jim Harbaugh getting fired

I've never had high regard for fan consensus. Usually, quite the opposite.

That's just not true. Offered more than that for Zion and I suspect they've had numerous other offers we just don't know about.


I'm impatient too. Want to see them addressing that IOL. But I'm of the opinion that we outsiders don't have enough data. Don't the plan. Don't fully see the vision. As long as Hortiz is listening to the concerns and goals of McDaniel...I'm just not gonna get freaked out. (And I definitely do believe Hortiz is working in stride w/ Harbaugh and McDaniel).

That may be the best option. I was hoping, but I don’t think, Hortiz is going to bring home the Trey Hendrickson prize. The Ravens backing out of the Crosby trade, is going to raise Hendrickson‘s price. I think the ravens are going to sign him. So we may indeed have a reunion with Joey Bosa.

I don’t give two farts about what fans or pundits say. What matters is how the Chargers play on the field. They’ve had back to back 11 win, playoff seasons. In my opinion, the Hortiz – Harbaugh coalition deserves the benefit of the doubt. Granted, this is a pivotal season. But I’m putting my trust in the current powers. That is all I have to say.

I think the Chargers are most likely done in free agency in terms of making splashes ... not expecting them to bring in Hendrickson.
Signings from here on will be low key guys on short contracts like the last two years.

One thing is clear and I will repeat myself: Where Mike McDaniel wants to put resources differs from us.

He wants to improve the wide receiver group by spending money .... make due with adequate OG play.
Sounds like they have failed on that account, but not with out taking some big swings.

That position was where they invested most of their resources in Miami when he was running things.
Miami had 3rd tier OGs, and Shanahan generally has poorly invested in that area too.

I am taking out of my Charger draft cluster any OGs in the 1rst and 2nd rounds of the NFL draft.

We should talk about wide receiver prospect in the first 2 rounds a lot more after free agency.
