Yeah, and if it wasn't because people focus so much on the negatives he would have been a ProBowler last year. I don't know why people make such a big deal about turnovers.

Don't want Clowney anymore. The guy is out of shape and of questionable dedication.

I do not know how good Walker is, but one of the complaints that I have been expressing about Telesco's offseason moves is that we did not have a designated pass defending ILB to play the role that D. Williams played very well for us last year. If Walker can play that role and is a good special teams player, then I like the move.

I do not think we are losing anything by retaining an ILB of limited talent coming off of a major knee injury in D.J. Smith, so trying to cover a weakness with a player that may work out for us is much better than keeping a player that did not seem to add anything except more weak depth to our already existing weak depth at ILB. Good move.

Yea he may be able to fill that role, but Pagano has been using DB's in that role throughout ST's and preseason. With the versatility that Weddle brings in run support, I have no issue using him as an in the box safety more often than a shitty LB that still can't cover a TE. Weddle pretty much said as much that was his preference in an interview with Darren Smith about a week ago. It's a move that hopefully will vastly improve our 3rd down efficiency.

Now we just need to hope that Gilchrist can actually play that deep safety role that Weddle played in those situations.

I thought Teo was a very good pass defender. And a three down LB?

te'o is a good pass defender as long as he's in zone. same with bird (btw fun fact about bird I didnt know; he used to be a WR in high school. might explain his instincts in coverage). butlers improved in that area and even gachkar shows some ability there as well and is probably our fastest LB.

His pass defense is more instinct than ability. But a pass coverage ILB wasnt brought in this offseason so Teo became the 3 down ILB because there isn't even a decent passing down ILB on the roster
