Free agent OT King Dunlap has announced his retirement after nine seasons.
Released by the Chargers on March 13, Dunlap hadn't drawn a whiff of interest in free agency. Dunlap had struggled with injury and ineffectiveness the past two years, including concussion issues. He appeared in all 16 games just once in his career. Dunlap turns 32 in September.
It was time. Good for him.
There's no replacement for displacement, but a ProCharger sure helps...
King was a great under the radar find by Telesco and really improved the line when he was signed. He also gave his all. Too bad the injuries got the best of him. He is doing the right thing.
I think Franklin's tape kind tells the whole story on him. Maybe he gets signed to a one year deal down the road by a team with a last minute injury.
