Ladd is hard to defend as he runs many different routes. With each additional game experience, he gets better.

Daiyan Henly is living up to his potential and being developed correctly. This guy is only 4 years removed from playing QB, WR, and safety. Staley was an idiot to play Kenneth Murray over him last year. Bringing Perryman back was smart... especially with Colson's injuries. Depth is so important.

Poona Ford and Teair Tart were brilliant pickups by Hortiz. The IDL was one of the biggest question marks coming into this season. Ford, Tart, Ogbonnia, and Fox have provided strong run support and are getting push up the middle on passing downs. Depth.

With Gilman having a down year, Hortiz goes out and trades for Elijah Molden... huge return on investment! Again, depth. This move even allows Minter to drop Derwin into the box at times. It also allows for varied coverages. Those varied coverages are making QB's hold the ball a little longer... and the sacks are beginning to increase.

Speaking of sacks... Joey gets his feet wet and Bud made the most of his opportunity. Both showed intelligence working back inside when Levis stepped up. With Mack mostly sitting out, Dupree and Tuli stepped up. Have I mentioned depth yet...?

The IOL got their act together finally. Was this development or just the opponent...? Either way, it was nice to get Gus Bus rolling again. Keep those RB's fresh. Salyer looked like he belonged... that hasn't happened since he played backup LT 2 years ago...

Coaching and play selection has improved dramatically! We might be gelling just in time for a very tough stretch of games.
Joey looked like he got stronger as the game wore on yesterday, I hope that's the case now that Mack is dealing with that groin injury...

Also I thought that Tucker Fisk made a big impact in the run blocking yesterday, he's a LOT better than Tomlinson at this point in Tomlinson's career...Matlock is also blocking better as well, saw both of these guys knocking people backwards yesterday...

We're seeing what good coaching looks like. Every player has elevated their game. Across the board. Guys that didn't see the field or under achieved last season -- like Henley and QJ -- are suddenly becoming reliable playmakers. Henley in particular had a monster game yesterday and is a sure tackler. He rarely is out of position or misses. QJ has his confidence. The balance across the board is becoming evident. Davis making ST plays, defense solid, offense getting better as the season progresses

Yes, there were a couple of tandem blocks that made running game better. Joe keeps churning the bottom of the roster... Matlock understanding the angles better and working on technique. With Matlock's emergence, and the addition of Fisk, Dissly has taken on more receiving duties. If Hurst heals fully and starts producing... the TE/FB room starts looking better. Having said that, a TE should be added in next year's draft... the timing is right.

          Tuli-5 1/2 sacks in 3 weeks. Fire.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
          Let’s win one for Mack.

Chark was in on a few plays but they were run plays mostly...maybe they used him as a decoy thinking it would open up a running lane?

Starting two DTs off the trash heap -Ford and Tart? And getting solid production? Brilliant.

That’s knowing exactly what you want in a player and finding a guy with a specific skill set to meet that need. We don’t need expensive pass rushers at DT, we need big guys who can build a wall. And these guys are out of vogue in today’s NFL.

Kelcher and Big Hands were DTs.

                    It’s more like a 3 1/4 pass rush.

Bosa seldom plays in case you haven’t paid attention.

And Atlanta's (20th), Baltimore's (25th), Cincinati's (26th) defenses won't be mistaken for Charger's (1st), Steelers (2nd), Denver's (4th), and Chiefs (5th). Herbie has been going against some of the league's best defenses while Burrow has been losing games to good defenses.

Obviously, the Chargers have been playing against some poor offenses (QB's)... they start to get some challenging offenses. But their offense also gets to operate against some suspect defenses.

Get the lead early using our balanced offense... play solid defense... win the turnover battle... protect the lead in the 2nd half... milk the clock with the run game if need be late in the game...

Both Tart and Ford have shown some pass rushing chops this season, I've seen both getting corralled and held like crazy without any calls, those two are not just run stuffers, they both have a decent tool box for rushing the passer too, I don't have the pressure numbers for either guy but I'd bet they are decent for the number of passing plays that they've been on the field for, Ford wins with leverage and swim and rip moves, Tart has a nasty pop on his first step that puts O-linemen in a bind from the get go...

I wouldn't call either guy a trash heap player, both fell out of favor on their 2023 teams for odd reasons, Tart wanted more playing time to increase his earning potential in FA and went about things the wrong way which got him in the doghouse but he was already considered a solid complimentary DT in the NFL...same with Ford, he'd already enjoyed success in Seattle and for some reason didn't see the field in Buffalo it might've also been a situation revolving around playing time, IDK...but both of those guys were looking for a situation where they would get to play to increase their earning potential neither guy was coming off of injury riddled seasons or anything like that, solid players that Hortiz enticed to play for us on the cheap by promising them the playing time and exposure that they wanted, I'm certain both guys will cash in during the 2025 offseason...both have been playing as well as they've ever played in earlier parts of their respective careers...

I wonder if either one is in future Charger plans, DTs age differently than other positions, for some reason some of those guys can play at a high level into their 30s...

If only we had a measuring stick and had the ability to potentially see what this D would do against a good QB when they faced him. Apparently this D has never faced a QB like MyHommy before right?

Oh wait, they did and they played pretty well against him. Sacked him 3 times, 1 TD 1 INT.
